SOURCE: Where is the fuel filter located for Buick Century 2001

The fuel filter is located underneath the car in front of the gas tank.
You have release the fuel pressure. Remove the fuel filler cap, locate the fuel test port on the fuel rail on the passenger side on the end of the right real fuel rail for a 3.1L engine.
3.8L engine yhr test port is located at the pressure regulator under the trim cover.

I have a 2001 cadilac deville that has a wicked knock in the engine. it is a rod knock (from the sound) so i figure my options are to change the engine, or change the rod ect. I wanna know if the engine...

Thats going to be a tricky pull. you can actually do BOTH methods fro pulling that motor. Which ever is easier for you would be better.

As far as the rod knock. Rod knock simply means that the rod bearing has spun and is no longer a smooth surface. potentially, you could pull the motor and replace just that rod and bearing if the crankshaft was unaffected. the majority of the time, more work needs to be done. I think in this case, it may be cheaper to remove the motor and replace the crank and bearings. A replacement used motor will probably run about 1k if you can find one at a yard.

How do i if a rod is kncking

If the rod is knocking you hear like a rhythmic ticking/clacking sound coming from the top side of the motor right under the intake. Changing or adjusting the rods isn't very hard to do and should be fairly inexpensive.

My car goes dead when i put on my brakes and my choke is sticking and i have a rod knocking it is a 1987 buick century 4 cylinder

A knocking rod is a serious mechanical problem--maybe time for either a replacement engine or a replacement car. The other problems are relatively minor--the engine dying when braking may be due to a poor battery connection or cable. Try turning the lights on to see if that also causes the engine to quit. A sticking choke is generally repaired by a thorough cleaning of the carburetor. Check with a local auto wrecking yard for a replacement engine. Hope this helps!

You must remove the door trim and reseat and straighten all the command rods from the lock unit that have been bended out of shape. This is a delicate work, best left to someone who has done this before.
