How do I find how to fix an electrical issue with the shifting of my transmission?

I can tell you what its not.. its not the transmission or components in it. I have already replaced the PCM. I am in process of replacing the air intake valve which appeared to be broke. The mechanic who swapped two different transmissions it and did some other testing and gave up.. told me that power comes into the trans relay switch for a couple of seconds then throws code and kills the power putting it into limp mode. I have gotten a 753 code 1765 but I do not have an updated code at this time but mechanic said the code 753 is same..

Wild guess the relay mentioned is bad, or connections to it are bad. Connections must be clean, even scraped to bright metal.

I googled: code 1765 you can add details, looks like a dodge cummings diesel. Some indication that the only code reader that sees it right is the dealers. You may find an answer in some of these messages.

"Tranny not shifting properly. Dead battery recently. Could the tranny problem be electrical? Does a computer need a reboot? Audi A6"

Not likely related to the battery dying. Have your transmission oil replaced as a start, this fixes a lot of transmission issues. If that doesn't work, have it checked by a transmission shop, could be anything from a switch to a transmission rebuild.

I have a 2001 hyundai santa fe recently the car has stalled when shifting into gears, the engine light is on and the codes p0755 p0760 p0765, from my research on this site I was told that this could be an...

P0755 - Underdrive Solenoid Valve Circuit - Open or Short(GND
P0765 - Overdrive Solenoid Valve Circuit - Open or Short(GND
P0760 - Second Solenoid Valve Circuit - Open or Short(GND

Tell me, did the dealership inform you that your vehicle did NOT have an electrical problem? If they did, they lied!

Each of these trouble codes IDENTIFY an ELECTRICAL issue, whether it's in the wiring harness (outside or inside the transmission). Let's suppose the solenoids are 'ACTUALLY' bad, shorted/open - OK.... THEY CAN BE REPLACED!

Provided you have told me "all they did was pull up the codes and tell me I need a new transmission for $2175.00" is true - THEY LIED!

You can look up the repair procedure yourself on and register your vehicle by VIN #. You then have access to shop manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, etc. you can even type in the codes (Under Detail Search) and select the "Inspection/Repair" procedures and see what THEY DIDN'T do/tell you.

I just had a rebuilt transmission put in an iam having the same issues with the transmissiion i replaced the speed sensor next cause thats what came up on the computer but the car is still doing the same...

If this is a new transmission exhibiting the same dysfunction as the old one then likely there is a problem with either the computer or perhaps the TPS. If the TPS is stuck electrically wide open then the transmission would always think it needed to be downshift. If the tps is good then the computer must be bad because the computer tells the transmission when to shift.

2003 lincoln aviator trans problem shudders on up shift / trans light on intermitant

the transmission in this truck is electronically controlled and shifting is controlled by a computer called "Powertrain Control Module" whenever the OD/ or other trans fault lights come on or flash there is a fault code set into the memory of the computer, this fault code is key to figuring out what the cause of the shifting problem is, it is the 1st step in any shop to diagnose the potenial cause or causes of the problem, there are common issues that cause this on is a failed electric shift solenoid and wiring can be a source as well , there are also mechanical faults that cause shift issues, to guess on the problem can be very expensive and seldom fixes the problem and costs allot of hard earned money, so the best thing to do here is take this to a dealer or a transmission shop and have them diagnose and test it for codes, Aamco transmission shops do this testing for free.

Ive got a 98 concord no dash lights and wont shift from first ,Ive replaced transmission control module 6 times chrysler dealership said they cant fix can you help

Call the service department and ask them if they know if there is a speed sensor available for the car and where it is located (internally or externally) this may be the problem or the secondary shift solenoid is bad. If you have not gotten any progrees from these strategies I would bring the car to an electrical diagnostic shop if they can trace the problem with the dash lights they may fix the transmission shift issue as well.

Transmission does not shift at the proper RPM. The engine over revs before it shifts. Does Vacuum or electric shift these transmissions? If it is electric, does it have a relay?

At your Bronco's age, the vacuum hoses are suspect. The plastic ones break, the rubber ones crack and leak. There is a specific one to the transmission to control shifting, usually. Some vehicles have a modulator valve on the transmission; when it fails you will see white smoke at the tailpipe and you will lose trans fluid. Check all the vacuum lines, large and small. A vacuum gauge is a great tool, it will tell you a lot about an engine.
