Question about Cars & Trucks

Microwave appears to be working but turntable not rotating.

Do we have to find an engineer or is this something my husband could fix if he takes it apart to see where the problem is?

I would not suggest taking your microwave apart if you are not experienced. It might be unsafe if re-assembled incorrectly.

Timing mark rotates around on damper

It sounds like you need a new damper, because the vulcanized rubber between the two has come a loose. There is not a fix for that except a new one. Plus I would not go back to that shop.

Tire rotation hyundai accent

tyre rotation is from front to back on the same side of the vehicle . It is recommended by tyre shops as it is good for business ( 4 tyres instead of 2) The other down side to tyre rotation is that you do not get a good idea of wheel alignment problems to know what to fix. Next down side is that once a wear pattern has been established that pattern will continue because the tyres are radial construction
Front drive cars wear out the front tyres in 1/4 the time that it takes for back tyres and a faulty tyre will have a wear pattern that indicates wheel alignment/ driver abuse but in fact is from case construction. It is something that I have not recommended since radial tyres came into being.

Brakes lock up when driving

It appears that you have a brake cylinder that is not returning to its default position when you take your foot off brake pedal.
Check for that.

2000 ford windstar 160k with starter removed flywheel turns hard using ratchet and hits a hard point during the rotation. Mechanic suggests it's a bad cylinder and that engine should be replaced....

When manually turning your engine over, even with the starter on / off, there will be some resistance. Before you condemn the engine, I would recommend you remove the oil pan and perform a visual inspection while someone else is turning the engine over. this may help you possibly find if there is something that is wrong.
If you are not mechanically inclined, I would recommend you take it to a known repair shop to perform the above mentioned inspection.

Clicking when i turn the key

Clicking instead of starting? The clicking is usually the starter solenoid being pushed out to the flywheel. If your engine isn't turning then it means that either your battery is too weak to turn the engine or your starter has malfunctioned or maybe engine that your engine has locked up.

Recommend you either jump start the car or use a battery charger with the start function to see if it is the battery or starter/engine lock up. If the engine still does not turn over. Take off your serpetine belt and try to rotate your engine with a large socket. If the engine rotated, then it is most likely your starter/solenoid that is bad. If the engine would not rotate by hand then something inside the engine has malfunctioned and it will take some serious work to get it operational again.

P0705 error code

Google search for P0705 Rio Error Code and I found this: http://www.kia-forums.com/3g-2006-rio-rio5/39179-error-codes.html Scroll down and the 705 code says: P0705 Transaxle Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction (PRNDL Input). Yer hubby will have to go to Autozone for a Hayes Rio Shop manual and look to see if its something he can fix. If it's in warranty, take it in. TJ

Bad Rod?

you can fix it. you shouldn't drive the car anymore to prevent damaging other parts. it sounds like a spun bearing, which is cause when the bearing doesn't recieve enough oil. the bearings are usually in a fixed position with the crankshaft rotating between them. the knocking noise is from the bearing wearing down from lack of oil, and they start rotating with the crank.

it might not be worth fixing because the cost of fixing it may be more than what the car is worth.

Antifreeze leak

DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR until this problem is fixed! You could destroy the engine.

Many GM V6 engines of 1995-1999 had defective Upper Intake Manifold (UIM) gaskets (this is especially true for 3800 V6 engines). The antifreeze/coolant (especially orange DEX-Cool) will deteriorate the gasket material over time. If there are abnormal exhaust noises accompanying the leak, and/or the oil appears cloudy (check this immediately), you may have a blown head gasket or Lower Intake Manifold (LIM) gasket. Start with the UIM gasket.

The repair is detailed in the Haynes manual for that car ($17 at NAPA and Carquest), and (DIY) will take 5-8 hours plus a new gasket and RTV sealant (parts should be under $40 for all). A shop will charge $250-350 for this job.
