SOURCE: 2003 CADILLAC ESCALADE ESV INSTRUMENT PANEL NOT WORKING

Unfortunately this is all to common a problem in these computer electronic clusters. You will need to call the dealer and find out where they send the instrument clusters for rebuilding in your area. Cost is about $250.00 if you do the removal and installation after repair.

Speedometer gets stuck

GM used a bunch of "stepper motors" in the dash cluster in this and many other vehicles in this time that were prone to failure. Speedo, Oil pressure, Temperature, Gas gauge - you name it - they were all the same stepper motor.

You can replace them yourself for short money - but you need soldering tools and skills. It's a great time to replace dash lamps, too. Check out eBay for parts.

THE SERVICE PROCEDURE IN THIS BULLETIN HAS BEEN REVISED. IN A SMALL NUMBER OF VEHICLES, THE GAUGE SWEEP TEST MAY NOT ALWAYS CONFIRM THE CONDITION. PLEASE REVIEW THE SERVICE PROCEDURE IMMEDIATELY.

DUE TO PART AVAILABILITY, THIS SPECIAL COVERAGE IS BEING ADMINISTERED IN PHASES. YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED AS EACH ADDITIONAL PHASE IS RELEASED.

CUSTOMERS ARE BEING INSTRUCTED TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP TO ARRANGE AN APPOINTMENT IF THEY BELIEVE THEIR VEHICLE HAS THIS CONDITION. THE CUSTOMER IS BEING ASKED TO PROVIDE THE VIN SO THE IPC CAN BE ORDERED IN ADVANCE OF THE SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT. THIS WILL ELIMINATE THE NEED TO KEEP THE VEHICLE OVERNIGHT. This may cause inaccurate readings, including the speedometer and fuel gauge.

Special Coverage Adjustment
This special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 7 years or 70,000 miles (110,000 km), whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership.

Oil pressure gauge reads 80

most of the time this is because of a bogus oil pressure sender

if you don't have an oil pressure gauge to measure actual pressure then replace the sensor... its cheap like $20-$40)

Replace spedometer cable 2003 gmc yukon xl

There is no speedometer cable on the 2003 Yukon, if there is no transmission issues like shifting problem. Your instrument cluster has gone bad, to pinpoint. Your stepper motor to your speedometer gauge has failed and needs to be replaced. You can do a search on Ebay for the stepper motor for around $10.00 which is better then the $400.00 cost of another instrument cluster.
There was a TSB on the replacement of the instrument cluster for your Yukon free of charge. The only cost to you is the labor charge unless your willing to do the job your self. Just go to the Gm Dealer and give them this TSB Number: # 07187C: Special Coverage Adjustment - Instrument Panel Cluster Gauge Needle Function - (Mar 20, 2009)
Subject:
