Question about 1997 Mercury Cougar XR7
And car is over-heated...so i tried to wire fan plugblack/colored stripe and blue togethersolid black to -on battery wired + to ignition switch girlfriend took off in it now it won't start....

OK put it back to the way it was and start from scratch jump the fan from the battery if it comes on fan is good if not replace it if it does come on check temp sensor mounted somwhere on intake if not there in bottom of radiator and replace that good luck never run coolant fan to ignion you have to run a sepreate switch with a positive and negative from the fan
