Usually caused by leak in the line from tank to pump. Doesn't have to leak fuel, but sucks air when pump tries to pump.

Ran out of gas2002ptcruser now it won't start .turns over but never starts.

You might have lost the prime to the pump or burnt the pump out do to running it low on gas consistanly. Before you pull the gas tank out to get to the pump check for spark and in some cars theres a fuel pump shut off switch you might just haft to push a reset button but usually that switch only trips when you in an accident. At any rate if you have spark you know its getting air the only thing left is fuel then check owners manual for a emergency gas pump kill switch and reset it and if not then it looks like your fuel pump bit the dust. Good luck

Did you remove all air from the tubing from the gas tank to the fuel pump? Read more on the net about air bubbles in the fuel line.

Why isnt my engine getting enough fuel to run?

Many times you need to prime it. You didn't say if it was an electric fuel pump or a manual. For a manual, pump the gas pedal several times, have someone watch for when gas mist gets to the carb. If electric pump, turn the key on and let wait until the pump quiets down. For an inline filter, we used to pour a few drops of gas into the filter, then install it properly. You can also prime the carburetor.

You just aren't getting the gas back up to the carb, that's all.

How do you siphon gas from 2001 S-10 tank if there is a screen on the filler neck

Take off the gas line under hood use a small inline electric fuel pump to pump fuel out just don't be in a hurry it takes a while. You may also force air into tank and push out fuel but getting a tight enough fit at filler hole can be a problem.

I have a 2002 f250 supercrew 4x4 with 5.4L ; not getting gas

The fuel pump module is above the spare tire , Ive seen those go bad a lot. Assuming it's not a heritage, take the tire down, they corrode away. About 60 bucks

I ran out of gas.Gas is starting to get low again. The car has no power, it will only go 5 to 20 miles an hour. Help!

Check the fuel pressure with a gauge. Also check to make sure the gas tank is not building up vacuum. See if leaking the cap loose helps?
Change the fuel filter.
If pressure too low, probably pump.
If too high, then pressure regulator.
Running out of gas is not good for the fuel pump, but it should not be that delicate.

Truck won't restart after running out of Gas

Kick the gas tack in the center bottom. There is an electric fuel pump in there. You ran low and the pump sucked in the junk from the bottom of the tank. Don't kick it hard, just hard enough to jar whatever is in the pump loose.

Will not start not getting fuel to carb

Prime the carb and see if it starts for about 3 seconds. If you can manually get it to start, the problem is in the fuel line most likely the fuel pump that is in the gas tank. The fuel filters do not just plug up without notice but the fuel pump will go in a micro second. Here is a tip...........always always always keep a 1/4 tank of gas or more in the gas tank. The fuel pump inside the gas tank stays cool due to the fact that the gas cools it. This helps extend the life of electronic fuel pump.
