SOURCE: car won't stay started

When gasoline sits for that length of time it turns into a varnish like substance. It gets the consistancy of something like real sticky warm creamy peanut butter. (basically turns to thick sticky muck). Which plugs the pick-up screen on the fuel pump, the fuel injectors and can even plug the fuel lines. Fuel injectors are designed to "spray" the fuel into the intake in a very fine mist. I believe the reason it starts then dies is because even though the injectors are plugged they will "drip" fuel because of the pressure that fuel injection works on. The "drip" is just enough to fire the engine and then die.
What you can do to confirm that the problem is actually fuel related is, using a can of carbuerater cleaner (in a spray can) start the engine while spraying into the air intake. If the engine keeps running as long as you keep spraying, the problem IS fuel related. If the engine doesn't stay running when sprayed. Then the problem is NOT fuel related. I don't recommend using "brake clean" to do this because some brands of "brake clean" are non-flammable. I hope I wrote this so that you understand what to do. Good luck.

SOURCE: 1988 ford ranger no spark

Did you replace the ignition control module, it is called the "TFI"? That is the most common source of a no start. There is also a problem with the ignition starter switches coming apart and causes a loss of power to the ignition system.

I have a 1987 chevy S10 4x4 xcab pickup . it just died one day i rebiult the TBI and put a new computer in it and new coil in . Have checked all the fuses . and it will not start .do you know what i

Check if you have spark (coil or ignition problem) Next consider what you did when rebuilding the TBI as there may be parts that will only operate in one way or settings that have to be adjusted. Lastly is the new ECM compatible with the system (immobiliser) Use a scanner to reset the ecm program

Po104po105po1o6 misfires

First the po 171 is that bank 1 is running lean, as far as the codes po104-106, i think you made a mistake, the mifire codes for cylinders 4-6 would be po304, po305 and po306. the fiurst thing to check would the fuel preasure.

The reason i say fuel pressure is due to the misfiring and lean codes.
If the fuel pressure tests okay then check for intake manifold gasket leak, this is done with a smoke machine or with some throtle body cleaner spray. you will neeed to start the engine and spary around the intake gasket area as you watch for engine speed change.
A scan tool may be needed to watch fuel trim and o2 readings if the intake leak is small.
The other problem could be sparkplug failure or bad coil and last sparkplug wires if this is not a coil on plug system.
Acoil on plug system would be a system with out sparkplug wires going to each sparkplug, instead there is a separte coil on each sparkplug.
If this is a coil on plug ignition system i would start there and swap coils with the other cylinders and see if the misfire moves to those cylinder if it does then bad coils. hope this is helpful , good day

2001 safari no start just cranks. Was cranking a little hard for about 3 weeks not real bad.then started car ran ok Then today just cranks no start sprayed car cleaner in the air cleaner intake did not...

Check the classic symtoms here, first make sure the engine is getting fuel and spark. Make sure your distributor module is not bad, it is located inside your distributor. Next make sure your coil pak is not faulty. Also look at your ignition relays to make sure they are not blown. Also check ignition fuses. If all these tests prove ok and you have a distributor instead of a coil pak then check the wires to the module inside the distributor for slight wear marks on them that sometimes happens when the wires rub on the metal turning shaft in the distributor cap.

I changed the alternator and it seems to run a little rough. it may be missing. could this be from changing the alternator?

No. All an alternator does is replenish your battery charge.
When you changed your alternator you may have shaken loose buildup in your intake.

Cheap version is to clean your intake (spray it with intake cleaner)...change your air filter and put two bottles of injector cleaner into a full tank.

Give it the time to burn the fuel before trying anything expensive.

Car won't start, new battery, starter ok, just won't kick over Saturn 2004, 80,000 miles, oil change 2 months ago,

If the starter/Battery are ok.Check for spark by pulling off a sparkplug wire, have someone try to start hold wire near sparkplug tip you'll hear the spark jump to the plug tick..tick..tick..sound.Be carefull to hold wire just far enough to hear spark, also this is the secondary circuit from the coil it's high voltage wear a glove. If you smell gas youre geting gas if no spark it is 1 of the following.Bad Coil, or ignition modulator, crack in distributer, cracked wires that cause spark to not reach plugs.Good Luck.

1998 chvy 1500 loses power

check the intake gaskets. in the middle front and middle rear. If they are oily, it more than likely sucked part of the gasket in. When it warms up the leak gets bigger. The easy way to check is to get some carb cleaner and spray all around the intake while idling and warm. DO NOT SPRAY ANY EXHAUST PARTS , carb cleaner is combustible. The truck should stumble or even shut off when spraying with the carb cleaner if there is a leak.
