Oil smoke after idle is not valve guides buy faulty valve stem seals
Over time they go hard and do not seal on the stem or crack off the seal at the stem
I would consider guides as a last resort and should be only done by and engine reconditioning shop

Why? You need a repair manual. Try filepeep.com if they have it, or manualslib.com or your Auto parts store, or library.
If you DIY you will need to remove the head. Then may need a hydraulic press at machine shop to press out the old and install a new.

Hi, its time for a ring set job in this vehicle. the blue smoke is a sign of major oil consumption due to bad piston rings. you also have faulty valve seals as well. this is deep engine repair and it will be costly.
If you cant do this job soon, be sure to watch the oil consumption by checking the level regularly and, monitor the oil pressure as well.

The oil rings on the pistons may be stuck, gummed up. I would remove the spark plugs and and see if you can find some Combustion Chamber Cleaner or some other type of cleaner that will cut carbon and oil sludge. Put about .5 oz in each cylinder over night and in the morning spin the enigne over a few timers and then replace the plugs and go drive it a few miles. That may get the rings unstuck.

the first check you should do to solve this issue is a KOER and KOEO. More commonly known as "pulling codes". I have linked the instructions on how to "pull codes". In a nut-shell you need to use a length of wire or paperclip to "ground" a pin on your self test connector (under the hood, driver side). Then, you get in the truck and turn on the key and count the blinks of the check engine light (CEL). This is called a KOEO (key on, engine off) test. For the KOER (key on, engine running) you will need to warm the vehicle to operating temperature then go through series of "press the brake, turn the wheel, press the OD switch etc..." and it will test all of your sensors. Then, it will blink some codes at you once this process is complete. It might be annoying at first, until you get the steps memorized. However, once you've figured out how it works--it'll be a life-saver. Don't replace a component without out doing a KOEO or KOER, first; or your just wasting money. Hope this helps
