SOURCE: rear window crank

Look for a replacement at a local parts store to see if they have something cheap that will work. If not, try a pick and pull wrecking yard. If you don't mind paying more than it's worth, go to the dealer and order it.

I am changing the timing chain and the oil pump chain on a 2002 Toyota Camry with a 2.4L I4 engine. When I removed the oil pump chain, the sprocket on the crank shaft for the oil pump was very loose. I...

You may have a much more serious problem. The material the key is made of is hardened steel and generally does not wear. However the sprocket and or the crank slots can wear. You should use a micrometer to measure your new key width and compare that to the slot in the sprocket and the crank. If the sprocket is found to be too large replace. If the crank slot is worn, well, you have a serious problem. The real answer is to pull and disassemble the engine and have the crank nose repaired. Sorry for that news.

General advice:After warming up track the problem:sparkplugs (even new can have the ceramic parts broken/cracked /wiring (after warming up the isolation get's soft, can loose spark power)/ignition coil(s) (gets hot, stop runnig),running reach, fuel pump/fuel pump relay.Best guess:fuel pump mallfunction (low pressure) related, fuel filter cloged/water in the fuel/fuel line cloged/chipped. Cheers, hope u figure it out,let the people know.

Loose water pump pulley???

4 cyl or V6 - - gas or diesel ?
You can go to one of the online auto parts websites and look up the water pump to see if it looks like your pulley. Or visit a local store.
If the water pump pulley is moving, the bearing may be failing which would require replacement.

Vehicle acts like not getting gas. anymore suggestions?

May be it wouldn't be a bad idea to bight the bullet and have a shop or dealer run a diagnosis to see what the actual problem is. All of the parts you replaced could have been check to see if there where good or bad. I'm sure you have spent more than a $100 in parts already. The average diagnostic charge is around a $100.

What I would need to know from you is some specifics.

What engine do you have?
Do you have fuel pressure at the rail?
do you have spark?
do you have power to the fuel pump?
do you have power to the coil?

Since you replaced all of the above parts I have to assume that you checked for all of this?

Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for using!

Have 99 mazda 626 sat idle for a year replaced batterty and alternator belt . cranks but won't start.

I would check to see if the car is getting fuel to the engine. Make sure your fuel pump is kicking on. Check to see if gas is going to the fuel filter from the pump. Make sure gas is going through the pump as well. You could also check the fuel pressure to avoid looking. Make sure it is in range. Also, make sure your battery terminals are cleaned and they are not loose. Make sure all the wires are tight and correct at the alternator. You may have an issue with the ignition system. check for spark. You may have a bad plugs or perhaps, a crank sensor or cam sensor. It could be anyone of these parts. You just need to do the proper test to eliminate all possibilities. If you have a question, just let me know.

I have the exact same problem with my HZJ75, have had injectors and pump reconditioned, checked glow pluga and pre-heater timer, all ok...yet still a struggle to start?? PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP.

I thing you repaired old injection pump and injectors
Have you check the pressure from the pump can open the injectors?
I-loose the all injector main pipe from the injection pump only injectors side
2-try to crank the engine just start while engine moving if you see diesel pressure where you loose means injection pump looks good, try to fixed all the pipes while engine cranking if the engine refuse to star injectors needs to resit correct opening pressure.
3-check the injectors pressure follow instruction manual book.
4-Check is any leaks all connections.
5-Check engine compression.

good luck

you will need a impactgun or a way to hold pulley and then get bolt loose. before you take the belt off, turn the crank until the cam is lined up. there is a small hole on the cam gear, this will be at 12'oclock and a mark is directly behind it.(look through the hole to see mark) then look where the crank gear is, there will be a mark to line it up at TDC. to do th ebest job, replace the cam and crank seals, water pump and reseal the oil pump. replace the tensioner sure to tension the belt correctly.

Hello, I am going to make a few assumptions here. The vehicle has an electric fuel pump and you replaced it. The vehicle has fuel injection. The engine is actually cranking, just not starting, when you say "car still won't crank". You are getting fire to the spark plugs at the plug ends. You checked the fuel pump for power at the pump. No power, then you back traced the wire to the fuse block and checked the fuse to see if it was blown. If the fuse is good back trace the power to the ignition switch and/or ECM for power. You have power at the pump, check the ground and make sure it is connected properly. Will the pump run when someone turns the key on? Pump runs, check fuel manifold for pressure. No pressure, check the fuel filter for blockage, or replace it. Fuel pump doesn't run, new replacement pump is defective. There is usually some type of control module for the fuel pump on fuel injected vehicles. Good Luck, RAC
