They say replace because it is more money for them. Lots of work to replace them. Replacing the seal around the window is much easier. Even easier is shutting it and sealing the top with silicone. The seal will run between $150 and $200. I don't know why they are expensive, but this is about as cheap as I can get them.

You can replace the seal your self. Once you see how the come out. Grab the seal with pliers. And pull it our some. Look at how it comes out, It is basically wedged in the slot. I pull them out, Start the new one in. Put in the bottom first and use a screwdriver to push in the top of it. Work your way around until it is seated in. Your done. Start at the front and work your way around the back side, on both sides. As you will have to about close the window to finish the back. An important note. Don't pull on the seal as you insert it, it will stretch and you will have to push back to get the last bit in place.

Hi Gary,

Apparently there has been some 'alignment' issues with the sunroofs coming out of Cadillac. As noted in the attached thread, the dealer can perform an adjustment which eliminates (reduces) the windnoise.

I had my subwoofer stolen out of my 2002 ford escape.. My theft light flashes when the car is locked or unlocked.. There is a whistling noise coming from front passenger side...sounds like power steering...

The whistle noise to me sounds like u said ur truck was broken into was a window broke or did they pry on a door and now air is leeking creating a air noise. And u can plug the computer in but unless u have a serv light on or have had one on in past more than likely it wont tell u anything maybe about the theft light my car it blinks after I look the doors so that could be cause someone broke in and if u had a aftermarket deck and they took that its possible some wires could be touching. its hard to explain that unless I had pictures

Hi i've recently fitted a performance air filter to my 1.2 8v authentique clio and now theres a whistling noise coming from the throttle body when the accelarator is push to a certain place please help me...

That's what happens with performance air intakes and filters. These are added to help let the air get sucked in better and faster. The result is with the air moving faster it can get noisy and even whistle. A big reason why the factory air intake doesn't have good performance is so that they are quiet for the everyday person.

Whistling noise while driving

If it is whistling while you rev your engine (while parked), then most likely there is a leak or hole in your air intake or vacuum hoses.

1. Your car creates a vacuum to constantly receive air from the outside.

2. A whistling noise is created when air travels through a hole.

Check all air pressurized ducts for holes or leaks.
Check air intake system for holes or leaks.

Squeak in front of engine 2002 taurus

I assume that the noise changes with engine RPMs, not vehicle speed since you mention washing down the engine - something pretty hard to do if the car is going down the road-
Is it possible that what you describe as a squeak is instead a whistle? The symptoms you mention related to water could mean that an intake manifold gasket (or another part of the intake system) has a bad gasket and is causing a whistling noise from air being pulled in where it shouldn't happen. If the failed gasket is allowing water into the intake system, that would explain why the engine sounds like it wants to die.
You might take a 2-foot length of vacuum hose or similar, hold one end to your ear and move the other end around the engine to see if you can more accurately isolate the source of the noise, be it squeak or whistle.    Obviously, don't hold the hose too tight in case you get tangled up with a belt or rotating part.
Good luck-

Whistling noise coming from engine compartment on 2004 toyota sequoia

Troublkeshoot possible noisy idler pulleys, if they are OK, remove the plastic cobers & check for a noisy timing belt tensioner pulley. Water pumps rarely "whistle"; they grind. But, if you see any evidence of leakage at the weep hole on the water pump impeller shaft, replace the pump regardless. Might as well replace the timing belt whilst you are there, too.
