Is the key you are using the same as before ?
A different key would have a different chip for the security system.

You would either need to put the old key and lock in the new column, or have a new key cut to fit the new lock that matches the chip from the old key. A locksmith or the dealer should be able to get you the right blank.

Each key has a different chip, and the computer must reconize the chip to allow the engine to start.

Here's a company that has a description of how to rebuildthe upper portion of a Ford steering column (for a small fee). They are broken down into step by stepdetailed instructions with pictures. Although the example is for a 2000 Mustang, the column is identical to yours (tilt and non tilt use the same housing) hope these instructionshelp you.

I recently had to change my steering column with the exact column and reset the computer by turning the ignition three times waiting til anti theft went off. How do i reset the antitheft device and synce...

This has to be done by ford dealership. There's a ignition key immobilizer around the ignition cylinder that isn't recognizing the chip in the key, also the p.c.m doesn't recognize the immobilizer.this all has to be paired by a ford computer. Or if you still have the old steering column, use the old immobilizer swi

Flasher relay in a 98 mercury grand marquis?

The fuse block the relay is located in is behind the knee bolster, the trim panel under the steering column, left of the steering column underneath the dash. Common source of problems if that does not fix it is the Light Control Module ( LCM), turn signal switch unit, headlight switch.

My ignition switch will not turn all the way back to the off position, so my key is stuck in the car. ive changed the ignition itself but its the same problem as before

Check the lower steering column plastic bushing. It may have come out of place and is stopping the column lock mechanism from entering the column. You should replace the bushing as soon as possible but removing it will allow you to remove the key.

Couldn't Turn off my 96 Grand Marquis

Seems your ignition swith has come disconected from the key switch. The actual swith is not the key. The key links to a switch on top of the steering column down around the pedals. Or the switch itself is broken free. The switch is replaceable although a pain to access. No need to pull out the steering column. Good luck.
