When was the car last serviced and brakes looked at?
Look around the wheel hubs from behind in case a sender wire has been pulled off, even so they may need cleaning and resetting.
You don't say what car so how would we know to advise you?

1996 ford explorer+abs light on+no scan codes

Check fluid level in master cylinder first.

Then check the connector on the differential. Leads/connections may be corroded. Follow the wiring harness in the frame channel for abrasions of the wiring harness up to the ABS solenoid. If you have a towing package with the larger "Bergman" plug instead of a 4 flat, check the wiring connections for the controller, and check to make sure the other connections have not broken.

The ABS codes may only show up in real time. Nothing is stored except total failure of ABS solenoid.

My car is showing a problem with brake pads (ABS). What do I need to do?

If you have an ABS light on that does not have anything to do with the brake pads. It has to do with the electronics that make the anti lock system work. The most common reason for the ABS light is a wheel speed sensor has failed (there are four). When the light is on you don't have ABS, the system reverts back to standard braking. To pinpoint the diagnosis you will need to have a shop plug a scan tool into your vehicles on-board computer.. The scan tool will tell the mechanic which component has failed and allow him to erase the code there-by turning off that pesky light. BTW it is safe to drive the car you just don't have the ABS feature until it's fixed

Volvo v70 abs light and mil light on. no coms with diagnostic socket, all fuses are ok. no 12v at diag socket, so no diag tools will work.

Are you plugging into the obd2 diagnostics port under the dash or the diagnostics port under the hood? You should be plugged in under the dash to read codes for the MIL / ABS light. Just a heads up as well most scanners you can buy from the part stores do not have the necessary program protocols to read European cars.

My mechanic changed the pvc boot now the ABS light is on can you please help. What is the ABS?

It stands for Antilock Braking System
First I would make sure the person plugged the ABS sensor back in after finishing the boot.
If they did not plug it in the ABS light will definitely come on.
If this is not the case than you should have the computer scanned by a a shop or a technician with access to a scanner that does ABS systems.

I'm having a problem with the ABS brake and traction lights on the dash always on.

If the ABS light os on the brake and traction control lights will also typically illuminate. Your best option is to have the ABS system scanned to see what is causing the light to come on. Once you know the code(s) it will be a lot easier to figure out what the problem is.

Abs light is on and want to find out why is this a wheel sencer or could it be the abs pump this also turns off my allwheel drive

the abs light is tripped by any computer-recognized problem within the abs system. a wheel sensor tends to be the most common cause of an abs light. while the light is on, the standard brakes function normally but the abs system is completely bypassed. the best way to diagnose this is to plug the vehicle into a code scanner. any decent shop can perform this service, or you can purchase a scanner at an auto parts store or online. if you do go that route, ensure that the scanner you purchase specifically can interpret abs codes

The abs isnt working on my 1995 grand prix how do i check to see what side isnt properly working?

Do you mean the ABS light is ON on the dash? If so you'll need to find someone with a scan tool to plug into the car's computer. If you have an AUtoZone local they do it for free. The same goes for check engine lights. They will plug the scan tool in and tell you what the code is.

ABS Light illuminated on Van

ABS diagnostics requires a scan tool (Chrysler DRB II, DRB III or aftermarket equivalent). the plug is located near the brake pedal. this is the only alternative to get the ABS light off.
