Question about Isuzu Cars & Trucks

When i am driving my 2002 isuzu axiom when it gets to 30mph it feels like i put my car into neutral And drops down to 20mph. If i put my car into 3rd gear (is automatic transmission) it drives just fine. Any ideas of what might be wrong? Just got transmission rebuilt 1 1/2 years ago.

Did you scan it yet,
neutral does that mean it slips.
slips means, engine RPM rises fast but not car. does it.
do not let it slip or the tranny will burnup.
the transmissions on newer cars are all electronically shifted
by the TCM brain. and it has LIMPHOME , just like engines.
and skips gears , (varies by maker what)

you need to learn or ask someone to drive car and see if problem
is engine power lost or transmission failure it takes just a short drive.

no matter what scan the PCM , see all errors and report them.
or get car serviced,
or just diagnosed (yes, put that on work order and sign it)

Flush will help. When refiling fluid put in a repair product. Valve is sticking.

It sounds like you have a damaged shifter cable.It is an adjustable cable but if it is that far out of adjustment then it is probably damaged. Replace it.

I would not conclude you have a trans problem,as some other issue maybe be confusing the shift stratagy.
The temperature issues and time driven are the key here.
I would check for stored codes first.
Then go over the basics-Spark Plugs,Ignition,Egr Valve,Vacuum Leaks,MAF Sensor and so forth.
Clean up the engine driveablity issues first.

Becareful when considering changing the trans fluid. That will not fix anything and may cause it to slip more,if you get to that point in your testing

The time parked is not a concern ,as I feel these issues where there before.
If the engine is not running correctly ,you will get just what you discribed,with the shifting up and down

have a compression test done to test for ring condition. Have an oil pressure test done using a mechanical gauge to check for bearing condition.. If the smoke appears after idling ( waiting at lights ) then it will be worn valve guides and failed valve stem seals

ur linkage come un clipped from the rod that goes into the transmission or ur bands need adjusted if its a clutch bleed the clutch

first make sure the fuse is not blown for the fan, if anybody has ever tried to repair it before make sure the wiring is not backwards making the fan run backwards, try a coolant flush.

Check the transmission fluid.make sure the car is at operating temperature and in park.go to parts store and buy transmission filter kit. automatic transmission works on fluid pressure if it is restricted the tramsmission won't shift right.the fluid and filter are to b changed usually between 40 to 50k miles

I have a 2002 Isuzu Axiom 4 wheel drive. When I go to start it, it just clicks. If I jiggle the shifter, it will start. Also, the child protection on the door looks when first engaging the brakes has also...


if you can jiggle the shifter and it will start it sounds like your neutral safety switch. its located down there on the transmission or on the lever. you can bypass it by cutting the wires going into the switch and wiring them together. problem is it will start in gear then. the switch is either down on the transimission where the linkage goes into the tranny or in the console
