Question about Cars & Trucks

Clutch linkage popping. Still shifts. Wondering if time to change clutch or just plastic linkage gone bad.

If the clutch still workes good .. its probably something binding in the clutch linkage. have someone work the clutch while you look for the problem. Don't fix something if nothing is wrong. I think this truck has a hydrolic clutck. Let us know what you find.

01chevy 2500 HD 8.1/ 6spd trans. Clutch linkage popping. Still shifts. Is linkage going bad or time to change clutch?

You need to get a good mechanic or DIYer to help. Its too difficult to do online, you need hands on help. If the truck has been driven by someone who rides the clutch then its possible the thrust bearing is worn through and giving a strange feel. Any good garage should be able to get to the bottom of it quickly enough.

THE CLUTCH ON MY 96 NISSAN 200SX SE STICKS WHEN I SHIFT AND ONLY HAS A LITTLE PAY WHERE THE CLUTCH ENGAGES

Could be clutch cable adjustment needed. Could be bad clutch cable bad or linkages to. If noisy bad throughout bearing. How many miles on clutch? could be worn out and need to be changed.

My car wont shift out of 2nd gear.the shifting handle is sloppy and the clutch is working fine

if the clutch really is working, (lever at bell moves 3/4")
by fine, my guess, is you can take off from dead stop in2nd, right>?
then its a bad shifter. tip.
or linkage (end tranny extension housing)
or transmission actual core.(shift rails, or forks) or worse.
you do know ,that you can disconnect the linkage and test tranny.
by hand,
key off
leakage off
shift to neutral (read the FSM or alldata.com) for how. under M/T sections.
then key on start engine, clutch depressed, the lift pedel
car moves its stuck in 2nd, of not bad linkage.
can do all gears that way, use 2 people and do not stand infront of car doing test.
or put the front wheels up on stands. but do not get near them.
while engine is running.
btw some shifters have plastic parts that go bad in the shifter tip.

or ,
jack up car in front, can you now shift car in to neutral or any gear?
linkage tests.
remove shifter housing and below see the shifter, H pattern
sifter box mechanism.
see that. you can shift that by hand with any small wrench or
large screwdriver, if the works the parts on the end of the shifter
handle main shaft tip are bad.

I have a suzuki xl-7 2005 manual and is hard to change gear does this mean the clutch is gone or is there a easy fix

This is pretty easy to trouble shoot.
first off , assume it's a simple easy fix. it can be.
not 8 to 10 hours labor jerking the tranny and 4wd parts.etc.
hard to change gears can mean many things.
1: cant select. this is common, the shifter tip has 2 plastic parts
that cause the shifter to do 2 things, its loose as heck and
cause , SELECTION failure. that is ,you can not move the shifting
forks inside the tranny. is the reason, this is shifter failure.
Suzuki sells the parts, ,shown in link below.

2: hard to shift , #2 is , but you can not force any gears
reverse is the most difficult. and if you try hard enough
the transmission grinds. this is clutch failure. (1 of 2, ways)
3: if the clutch is failing, called DRAG. (not slip, no noise or chatter)
you can jackup the rear of car, at the axle place 2 jack stands
under said axle housing ends and now you can shift.
proving a bad clutch as it now shifts but in a clunky way.

ok, now we are in the Dragging bad clutch fails.
the first easy fix, is easy.
is called,a "bad clutch actuator"
on early cars this part is a cable (replace the cable)
on later cars the actuator is a MC/slave hydraulic pedal sys..
The cable clutch you do...the.. do the 1 inch test. see link.
on Hyd. do the 3/4 inch test. see the link.

this proves the clutch is good or bad , every time.
if the clutch lever fails to move the correct distance.
no clutch can work, fix the actuator first.
this page gets them all.

88 Toyota Pickup, has become difficult to shift in to gear. Once in gear (1,2,3,or4th) very smooth. I believe must be something up front in the clutch linkage. Possibly? Can get into, but takes awful...

if your linkage was bent it wouldnt shift into all gears easily.sounds like you need to blead your slave cylinder to your clutch.10mm wrench and bleed it like your brakes same type set up.

1995 saab manual transmission shifted to nuetral at an intersection then unable to shift back into gear again

Pull up the leather shifter boot (it's attached with an elastic cord around the base, so just tug upward on it)

look for a little white plastic extension attached to the shifter at the base. This is what locks the car into reverse once the key is removed.

From use/wear, this will sometimes rotate and drop down on the shaft and prevent the sifter from going in any gear.

Manual transmission problem

Change the fluid in the trans. If that dont work then your throwout is going bad and not disengaging clutch fully.

My third gear grinds when i shift to third it doesnt grind when i double clutch up all the time but it grinds on the down shift double clutch or not how can i solve this?

Has the transmission been serviced? A transmission oil change and lubricant additive may help, however, it sounds as though you have a 3rd gear synchronizer going bad. Verify the shift linkage is not worn and is secure at the shifter and transmission be for spending any cash. If the linkage is good and the fluid change does not help after 150 miles, you might want to visit your favorite transmission shop.
Good luck and let me know.

Shifter won't budge - 5speed manual/standard transmission

Before you do anything pop the little cent rag off the stick shift and lube up the assembly, and lube anything you can see that moves. my girlfriends cavy was doing this and also my cousins sunfire and it fixed it both times!!!!! try silicone lube, or maybe even wd40!! theres a white piece up under the console you can barley see lube that up !
