Question about Cars & Trucks
You do not tell us what kind of car you are working on.. BUT, you need to check the wire that comes from the ign switch to the starter.. its the small wire. to see if it gets 12V when someone turns the key to the start position. Iit is not receiving power from the switch then the ign switch is probably bad. Or there is a short before it gets to tthe starter. Something to try.. Attach a wire 12Gage to the pos battery post. take the other end and put it against the post where the wire from the ign switch attaches. this should give you a postive indication that the starter works. Make sure car is in nutural.. it could ne a nutural safety switch if automatic or a clutch depress switch if it is a stick. Post and let us know what you find.

Even though I bought the vehicle new, there was an aftermarket security system installed. The system had a bad diode, so i removed the system and reconnected the factory wires.

SOURCE: Car will not start.
first, you need to check the battery voltage.
it should be at least 12.5 volts.
if the voltage is right, try moving the shift lever while turning the key, or try starting in nuetral.
with the key in the off position, try to turn pulleys by hand, the engine could be siezed.
please rate my solution, THANKS

It may be possible that your alternator is bad and discharged your brand new battery. Take both the battery and the alternator to your local parts store and have both checked.
