I have a 2004 outlander 400. I am changing the coolant. What kind of coolant do I use. Thanks

the same kind that came out
green for green and red for red
that way you do not have incompatibility problems between coolants as it is near impossible to completely flush the system

If its killing your battery while the car is running you have other issues. You should have the alternator should be tested.

I got a collant flush, and I had the orange fluid, got the flush, but they changed the coolant to the green kind. Will that be a problem?

The yellow/green kind is actually alot better. The red/orange has been proven to eat gaskets. Only trick is that you must flush all the red/orange out first. But it sounds like you did that. I'd say you're good buddy

Can the green antifreeze be used in a 2002Volkswagon Passat instead of red fluid. 1.8 liter engine

I wouldn't attempt that. Stick with the fluid that the manufacturer recommends many problems can occur if you put the wrong coolant into the system.

Need to put engine coolant in a 1999 Chrysler 300m. The reservoir says it takes a special kind of coolant. What kind? Can I use Prestone 50/50

whar steps do I take after draing the coolant from the radiator. I have a 1999 chysler 300m. Should the engine be running while replacing the coolant. This car does not have a radiator cap to remove. Do I just add the coolant in the resivor while the engine is running?

My antifreeze light came on so I pulled into a gas station and bought some universal antifreeze green in color now that I'm home my husband says I should have bought the red stuff. What is the proper color...

The Orange antifreeze called GM Dexi cool, (red to your husband LOL). It's ok you put the green antifreeze in. The difference is the Green antifreeze has a of 1 year or 30,000 miles and the Orange has a life expectancy of 5 years or 100,000 miles. Being your Lumina is 12 years old and if the Orange antifreeze has never been flushed out, most likely crystals have formed in the water jackets and passageways through out the cooling system. The crystals can be flushed out with Preston radiator flush, but will take a few flushes to ensure that most of the crystals are out. Once flushed out, replace the antifreeze with the GM Dexi cool 50/50 mix water/antifreeze. Too much water will freeze and can crack the engine block, radiator, or heater core. To much Antifreeze will gel up causing the coolant to flow slower and then the engine tends to over heat. Note, it's a good time to replace the thermostat and spend the extra money for the fail safe thermostat. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to answer any more questions.

Green or red coolant?

more then likely the car came with red anti-freeze and do not mix the two if you would like to have green anti-freeze in your car flush out the system first or drain good and then refillwith the green
