Not saying this is your problem but I had a ram 1500 5.9l gas do the same thing would start and die as soon as I put it in drive but would run fine in reverse after doing all kinds of trans testing it ended up being the crank sensor still doesn't make sense to me but it would back fire and carry on in drive changed sensor and runs great and better fuel mileage

Replace the wheel cylinder in 1992 dodge dakota


Back off rear drum breaks you'll need berthha a biiiggg ffff hammer knock the drum off the inter spindle once that off you gellin two bolts a break line your half way there. reverse process

1994 Ford Ranger won't shift into drive


In 9 out of 10 cases when I see this problem in the ranger, it is the planetary gear in the transmission. It is made of the cheapest metal available. It breaks usually from going to park before the truck stops or switching from reverse to drive while still rolling. Just a Idea , But I hope it isn't that . Reverse will work fine for a while, and have no forward gears.
