Question about 2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
Driving down road in 2003 Chevy trailblazer automatic and suddenly lost power and wouldn't go into gear. Coasted far enough to a safe place and will go in park but no other gear but now the shifter pulls right up like its not attached to anything. What is wrong with it and is it a cheaper fix than replacing transmission?
My 2002 basically did the same thing and I had to replace the tranny on it. Cost was about 3000.00 I was told that it was a common problem at 160,000 miles or more. Sorry for the bad news

Are you getting the check engine light? If so the electronics may have gone out. You may not need a rebuild but you won't know till you pull the oil pan on the transmission and inspect the contents. You may also have lost the neutral safety switch. It is mounted on the drivers side of the transmission. Check those out first and let me know what codes you get.
For Ponchoboy; the clunking and hissing you hear are teminal root causes. Drop the oil pan and if it has a lot of filings and metal it is time for a rebuild.
Hope this helps; Rate me highly;

SOURCE: my 2001 kia rio automatic
Check if ur axle in front is moving, if it is moving u got a LOOSE NUT on ur front wheel axle, some front wheel drives have tendency to loosen the nuts holding the axle to turn the wheel.It may also have a damage AXLE, let the mechanic check that! In ur transmission, modern automatic transmission have SLOENOiDS that acts to shift the FLUiD from one gear to another and its not FUNCTiONING. Better bring it to ur nearest dealer to check on that SOLENOiDS Most of the Transmissions today are electronically controlled!
