Hi the best way to find out if the valves are bent is to put a new belt on and do a conpression test, you can do this yourself quite easerly, you take all the spark plugs out then each cylinder at a time, screw compression tester in the first cylinder turn the engine over about 5 times then read the gage on the com-tester and write them on a peice of papper, then check them against what they should be in the book(haynes manual will help)if the readings are mostly the same then you should be fine,if one is down one up then dosnt look good, some times you can get away with it,
I hope you sort it out,all the best.

yes it will do this you will have to check compression then timing marks on gears that the belt drives. some motors are interference engines and can bend valves.

How do I tell if my car has an Interference Engine or noninterference Engine?

All Chrysler engines are interference but if you have a 2.4 l with a broken timing belt just replace belt had many I fixed and didn't bend any valves . 2.7 forget it that's timing chain it will bend valves

My timing belt broke on my 2002 dodge neon. did it bend the valves

This is not an interference engine and braking timing belt will not bend valves.

If the timing belt slips do the valves bend on a 2000 sportage 2.0 l

Yes, unfortunately this engine IS an interferance engine. The only way to tell if anything is bent is to install a new belt and see how it runs or perform a compression test. Let me know if you need anything else.

1984 928 began running very rough & lost all power. Shop indicates 0 compression on 4 cylinders and that likely cause is slipped timing belt and damage to valves on one side. I thought 1984 engine had...

depending upon the rpm that the engine was turning at, I have seen "non interference" engines bend valves on a timing belt or chain failure.
if you have 0 compression on that bank, it will need to be torn down to find out why. BUT I would do a cylinder leakdown on those cylinders after the belt has been removed (so you can turn the cam and close the valves for each of those cylinders), to make sure that they are not properly sealing, before removing the cylinder head.

Cambelt sliped or broken. does the valves bend.

what is the liter size of your engine? the 1.8L is an interference engine. generally all Audi engines are interference engines, and timing belt breakage can bend valves, the sure way to determine without detailed maintenance information, install a new belt, once the belt is on immediately run a compression test, if timing marks are good and compression fails, valves are bent.
