Check the battery like this:
Turn on the headlights, then try to start the car.
If the headlights do not dim or go out, then the battery is likely ok.
Check that the battery cable plus post, goes to the starter, Minus post to a good ground, like the engine.
If wiring is ok, then look at the starter solenoid for a good connection.
Problem is most likely the Solenoid or starting relay, whichever the car uses.
Hope this helps.

Check all the electrical connections in the starting and charging circuits,
if that doesn't work, test and or change the starter

Bmw wont start. I have replaced the starter,

It could be so many things wrong with this car has the electronics are very complicated something has silly has a fuse may have blown fuel pump may have packed up the list just goes on. So you would be best taking your car in to a garage and asking them to diagnose your problem this could save you a lot of money rather than just replacing parts that dont need replacing.

Hi i have a bmw 320ci 2001 and sometimes when i get in and turn ignition on it wont start. i've found the only way to make it start is by pressing the lock and unlock button a few times. hope you can help....

Have you ever changed the battery in the key fob? Next time you go to start it unlock it by using the key in the drivers door lock turn to the unlock position and hold there your windows will lower and sunroof will open. Get in and start car if you do not have to lock/unlock to start change the fob battery if you do need the lock/unlock move your chip in your key is bad

The next step I would take is drop the oil pan .
Check the contents.
IF clean change the oil pump and pick up screen,

The bearing could be gone.
--
If you check the oil pressure and the oil pressure is good.

The fuel system should be checked. A stuck in injector or missing cylinder.

I would first check the back pressure of the exhaust system to make sure the system isn't restricted. If the engine is not misfiring, and you have changed the plugs and fuel filter, I would suspect an exhaust restriction. if the exhaust is ok, I would check the fuel pressure next.

Got a relay in the power distribution center? (black box just behind the battery, towards the firewall) I can't remember if you have one (funny because I've got two outside but too cold to go look) Anyhow, everything in there is labled on cover inside.
Other stuff to look at: check for cable connections at starter & block for clean & secure. check neutral safety switch, check ign switch. Make sure battery connections are clean on inside, not just on outside!
