Engine Code 301

Code # 301??? That is NOT a valid Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) for the engine control system on a 2000 Mercury Sable.

Assuming that you mean P0301, that is a cylinder misfire code that is identifying number 3 cylinder as the cylinder with the misfire problem. MANY things can cause a cylinder to misfire including spark plugs, spark plug wires or boots, burnt valves, broken valve springs, blow head gaskets, cracked cylinder heads, bad or dirty injectors, faulty injector control circuits, Failed ignition coils...the list goes on....proper diagnosis required.

Change fuel filter on 2007 lincoln Mark LT

you will need to jack car up a bit to get under the car, locate the filter which is located near the fuel tank allow the floor of the car toward the side middle area, the filter will be held in by a bracket, some bolt on and some are spring held in which the filter pulls out of the bracket, take caution as fuel is under pressure and some will spray out, wear safty glassess and have a pan to caught small amount of gas. you will need a filter clip release tool to release the clips that lock line on the filter, you will slide tool in behind the fitting and push into line to release clip and then pull line off filter, this is done on both sides, then remove filter and install new one, to reconnect lines no tool needed they slide on and lock, make sure to slide in all the way to lock, to make sure pull line back to make sure it locked and doesnt slide off, this sounds like alot but its easy to do. good day.10_25_2011_6_24_19_pm.jpg

My 98 cadillac runs hot within 10mins replaced therm. and i dont have smoke gushing out of pipes, diagnosed it and came up with codes po301 and 1258severity unknown what can i do to stop overheating

The most common overheating problem with the Northstar engine is a blocked purge line(small hose). The purge line is designed to purge air out of the cooling system.
There is a small diameter hose coming from near the top of the coolant tank (not the cap) ,this is the purge line.
With the engine idling, pull the purge line from the tank,if there is no coolant flow from this small hose,it is blocked and this will cause overheating.
If the hose is clear, check for blockage at the nipple on the tank.Or trace the hose back until you find the blockage.
The hose goes in to the engine to a crossover and comes out the other side close to the thermostat housing, the blockage may be there.

05 Impala missfire code 301 have changed

check intake for vaccum leaks, the gasket also and egr valve, thats alot of parts to have replaced without diagnosing first, if there are no fuel leaks and you said all injectors were replaced then you have a defective fuel pump, also these engines had misfire problem because of dirty injector but you replaced them so count that out. good luck.

OBD 2 code showing 300 & 301 cylinder misfire

there are alot of components that can throw those codes.... as a test pull one wire from the coil pack and note if the engine idle changes... replace it and move to the next one... repeat that for all cyclinders.... if you pull one and there are no changes you have likely located the cause.
