SOURCE: 1991 Subaru Loyale- oil in air intake

There are only a few things that cause oil in the intake, most common is a plugged PCV (Positive Crankcase ventilation Valve), this causes pressure to build from the combustion process and forces oil into the air cleaner/air intake system, and in some cases out the oil seals, another issue is excessive engine blow-by, this is when the piston rings don't seal anymore and the pressure once again builds and forces oil into the air intake, the last and easiest to fix is an overfilled crankcase. Excessive oil burning of any kind will destroy the catalytic converter in a short period of time. How many many miles on the car, does it have excessive blow-by?

Replace the PVC valve, it's probably clogged.

SOURCE: 2000 Daewoo Nubira PCV valve location.

Go to your local auto parts store and look for a chiltons or haynes repair manual for your make and model of car. 2000 daewoo nubria. They might already have one open and available for your reference, otherwise its probably $20.00 for one. Do a search online in a forum specifically for daewoos. there might be someone else that has this info available.

SOURCE: replace PCV valve 2001 taurus duratec engline

I dont think it is the PCV but its a good idea to replace the PCV at least once a year either way, and its very cheap, usually $2-$5 at autozone.

SOURCE: STOP ENGINE-LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON AFTER INSTALLING NEW

Before making any repairs I suggest you put an external mechanical oil pressure gauge in place of the sending unit and determine what your actual oil pressure is. That will tell you which way to go using real numbers. If this condition appeared suddenly it may not be a large problem, especially as you did not note any knocking etc that goes along with internal wear.

Gmc savana 2002 has lot air front oil cap

the PCV valve may be fine but what about the hose . It cab ne blocked up . Is the PCV valve connected up right . It is a one way valve and opens under vacuum ( when the engine is overrunning the throttle ). The extra air from the filler cap is an indication of excessive blow by in the combustion chambers past faulty/ worn/ broken rings.

Oil in airfilter and in airbox

Usually a sign of blow-by which is when the oil is getting past the rings or valve seals. You could have a problem with the PCV system too.
The PCV valve draws crankcase fumes into the intake and fresh air into the engine from the air cleaner.
If it is blow-by there's not much you can do about it short of rebuilding or replacing the engine.

1998 Chevy Malibu is using excessive oil. Had an oil change done back in October 2012 . Then checked Oil level in December of 2012 and was about 3/4 low in oil! why ?

first thing check make sure oil pan drain plug tight. check make sure oil filter tight. try tighten oil filter by hand see if turn tighten oil filter clockwise direcction if all is good. how many miles on vechicle.could have oil leaks park vechicle in spot that clean.move vechicle see if you see oil spots on ground if yes.your front timing cover seal leaking oil or rear main oil seal ;eaking.or valve cover gaskets leaking.if find no oil leaks more likely engine burning oil.replace pcv valve.check air filter if you see oil in air filter housing either have bad pcv valve or pcv not getting vacuum make sure pcv valve getting vacuum when engine running vacuum should be felt at pcv if not pcv valve bad or pcv hose disconnected broken or plugged.if pcv valve okay engine has worn piston rings.worn valve seals or guides or oil return holes stopped up thats all possible reasons for engine burning oil.if spark plugs oil fouled engine burning oil.

Many times when oil appears in your air intake and in the air filter this is usually caused by a plugged pcv valve Positive crankcase ventilation valve it costs anywhere from 3-10 dollars. As far as it not starting my guess is they checked the air filter and left a vacuum hose or airbox open. Some of these vehicle will barely run if an air leak is present at the airbox containing the air filter.Would double check for any vacuum lines that may have been disconnected around the air box and that the box is shut and sealed properly.

OIL IN THE AIR FILTER

Your PCV (Positive Crankcase Valve) has failed. The valve is designed to allow gas fumes in the crankcase to be recycled back through the intake and be burned off in combustion. There should be a black hose running into the airbox. It should also have a filter in the airbox. If you follow the hose to the engine itself it will end at the PCV. Replace the valve and the small filter in the airbox and this should resolve your problem as well as boost your fuel mileage.

Tech changed pcv valve now engine is sputter

probably not the pcv valve.but a" tech" recomending a pcv valve because its grundgy is purely a sales increaser tactic.you might possibly have a head gasket leaking into combustion chamber[s].but a dirty throttle body will cause a stalling/rough idle/no start condition. wild fluctuations are mostly caused by a bad thermistat. i would change it again, could have been a faulty one or just a cheaply made one that fell apart. its a cheap way to rule out one possibility.if the thermistat does not fix it then i would recomend going to a well known and respected shop or dealer in your area.all guesses after the thermistat are going to be exspensive guesses

At an Idle your 4.0 creates a vacuum between the throttle body and the intake valves. As you need more throttle less vacuum is created. The PCV ( positive crank case vent) works off this vacuum. At the back of the valve cover there is a vacuum line that goes to the intake manifold. This line can become clogged. An engine produces "blow by". If you were to take oil cap off you might see it at an idle. Check the air filter. there is a line from the valve cover that leads to the airbox. this is where the "blow by" goes when pcv line is clogged. Part 1 the problem...... part 2 the fix.
