I'd like you to check that you have enough antifreeze first before looking to changing anything

Another clue... When we charge the battery and turn the truck on the air conditioner is always on. But if we turn the truck on and the fan hasn't come on randomly the heat/air will be at whatever we had it set at last.

What do you mean... "when the truck is off?"

Big difference between the fan coming on after the truck has been sitting for hours and a few minutes after you turn it off.

It comes on awhile after it's off. Seems like after the motor has cooled and then stays on until the battery is dead.

Sounds to me like a faulty switch or a faulty temperature sensor.Does it stay on for a long time after the engine is off? If so, I would bet on the temperature sensor. Does it cut off when it's still hot? If so, then look at the switch. Could be other things but these are the most likely.

No doesn't come on or stay on when I cut it off. It's usually much later and stays on until the battery dies.

Not sure what that could be. I would take it to Advance Auto or Autozone for their free diagnosis. That might give you some clue. The A/C coming on might just be default setting as a result of the dead battery. It might also indicate a computer malfunction. I'm really not sure. I wish I knew more to be able help. Good luck. Please post when you figure it out. I'm very curious about this one.

Follow the top radiator hose from the radiator back to the engine. IT is under the connection where the hose meets the block.

2004 suburban doors randomly lock and unlock while driving

There are two relays that control the locks. One controls locking, the other unlocking. One of those could be defective. Replace one. If that corrects the problemyou are good to go. Do not discard the old relay yet. If the problem persists replace the other existing relay with the old on you just removed. I believe the lock relay actually works through the unlock relay or vice versa.

Trying to drain radiator on 1999 gmc suburban. It's a plastic drain and only turns about 1/4 turn and no water comes out. Does it need to loosen more or what's the deal? Thanks.

Hello, it should loosen more but it is probably clogged up. If you put too much force on it, they will break off. Disconnect the bottom radiator hose will be your best option, it not only will drain better, but will it allow you to flush the radiator better.
I hope this helps.

My truck is not holding coolant in radiator, i have to put coolant in everyday. The temperture gauge runs to 260 after riding about an hour.

make sure the fan is working properly,Turning on around 210 degrees..If the fan is working it could be the radiator is bad..If the fan does not come on start checking the fuses.Look in owners manual under fuses ( fan ).

Water pump 2004 suburban, coolant has a slow leak. Had the coolant bottle pressure tested and it was OK. System pressure tested and it was not holding pressure but the mechanic could not tell if it was...

Possible leak areas waterpump, heater core, intake manifold gasket, radiator or hoses. Waterpumps have what they call "weep holes" which is an early warning system to prevent major damage when pump fails. The weep hole needs to be inspected from below and is usual behind waterpump pulley. If it's your heater core, you should smell anti freeze inside truck and in most cases windshield will fog up. Radiator could be pin hole to front side of radiator (which is buried behind AC condenser & grill) and if it was head gasket, intake manifold symptoms would be coolant in oil OR lots of white smoke from exhaust. Try parking it on a clean dry surface and see if you can narrow down area where leak is coming from.

How do I drain the coolant from my 2004 chevy suburban

locate your radiator ( usually bolted to the front of the car under the hood) and look at the bottom and find a little plug that screws off and take it off. Make sure and have a bucket cause there will be a lot of coolant that comes out. then take the bottom radiator hose off of the radiator ( not the water pump) and there may be some more coolant that comes out there and that should be it. If the coolant is really dirty i recommend just taking it to a shop so they can perform a coolant flush and get all the dirt and grime out of your engine before it clogs up.

I have a 2004 chevy suburban 4 wheel drive in need of changing the antifreeze and not sure where to drain old coolant and to add new coolant.

Not all cars have a drain port. if there isn't a petcock or plastic plug at the bottom right or left side of the radiator, just take the lower radiator hose loose to drain. OK?
