Question about Saturn Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

Can I take a motor/trans and any other salvageable parts from a 1994 saturn sl2 and put it in a 1994 saturn sl1 body? I know the motor parts are not interchangeable but will the twin cam fit in the standard sl1 engine bay?

Yes ,the engine is identical, just twin cam instead of a single cam set up.

SOURCE: my S belt snapped on my 2000 Saturn SL2, and the

282420f.jpeg Does your engine look similar to this. IF you're referring to the wording on the cover, this is the valve cover. This is the only piece i'm thinking that has this. But this should not leak radiator fluid to leak. With the car overheating and something cracking, it could be the radiator busted or the head/block could be cracked. Try to fill the radiator up and see if it starts leaking. I'm just wondering if your water pump locked down or any of the other pulley's causing the belt to snap. If you would like send a picture to me at chris-n-misty@charter.net of the part and I can better help you.

SOURCE: 93 saturn sl2 standard trans, twin cam odometer

Depends on how much money you are going to spend to fix a very minor problem on a 500 dollar car. You can buy a repair kit on eBay for a few bucks, or you can buy a used cluster with the kit in it and your mileage will be off forever. In the end your car will not be worth one more dollar, so think about the difference with a working or non working odometer.

SOURCE: How much would a front

I would expect a good glass place would do it for 50 to 100 bucks. If you need a better deal you should see if any of your local scrap yards have your window their prices will always be cheaper.

SOURCE: i have a 1998 saturn

If you are replacing a DOHC 1998 engine with another DOHC 1998 engine yes it will work. Saturn only made two engines from 91-99 and they all had the same block, difference some were SOHC and others were DOHC. The number "1" after SL or SC or SW means SOHC while the number "2" after SC or SL or SW means a DOHC.

Note if one is an auto and the other manual you are going to have to swap the flywheel/ring gear stuff over.

Where is the radio fuse in the fuse box in my 1994 saturn SL

On my 97 SL2 it's on the passenger front side near where your left foot would go. You remove the panel as part of the center console and it's behind it

In my 1994 Saturn SL1, there is a grey one under the hood on the driver's side AND one inside the car on the passenger side where the left foot would go

On the passenger side, on the side of the instrument panel, there is another fuse box, the radio fuse is number 10 on mine. The problem is I changed it and the radio still doesn't work.
On a 93 sl2 its in the same fuse box, but is number 19

I have a 1993 saturn manual transmission and when

Time to find a much lower mileage used tranny and have it put in. Replace the clutch components with new stuff while you are at it.Note that the transmissions 91-99 will most likely swap but you must know whether you have an SL1 or SL2 and the donor car must be the same..

WANT TO PUT A 1996 LS -1 SATURN, MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND MOTOR INTO A 1995 LS-2 SATURN BODY AND CHASSIS. WILL I HAVE TO CHANGE THE COMPUTER? DOES THE DESIGN CHANGE FROM 95 TO 96 EVEN MAKE IT POSSIBLE...

There isn't much difference between them. The SL series didn't change between 95 and 96 except for the ecm is OBD2 on the 96. Are both cars stick shift? The difference in the SL1 and the SL2 are the cams. 1 for sohc and 2 for dohc. So what you are asking is can I take out my dohc motor and install a sohc motor right?

It's possible, especially if the used trans sat unused for a while. When you change the filter, make sure that the trans has fresh, proper fluid.

Where is the location of the heater blower motor on a 1994 saturn sl1? Do I have to tear the dash out?

No need to tear the dash out. The blower is located above the passenger's feet, below the glove compartment. You access it from underneath. Three small black bolts hold it on and there is a two wire electrical connector on the bottom that must be removed. The motor drops down with the fan blade attached. Should take about 5 or 10 minutes to remove.

I have a '93 SL2 and the interior is the same as an SL1 or 2 from '92, '93, '94 and maybe even a '95.
