If nobody knows the answer or you do not give us enough information, the question never gets answered. We are unpaid volunteers that do this in our spare time. Your question gets answered when one of us logs in and knows the answer to your question. We do not work 8 hour shifts. We can work as little as a few minutes before I go to my regular job or work as long as we want on the Fixya site.

First place I would check are the battery terminals. Remove them and clean the posts, re-attach and tighten them. You can buy a tool for cleaning the posts at your local auto store.

My crazy fit machine dosent work. Turned it on and nothing

This doesn't sound like a good subject to post in the "Cars & Trucks" category. However, as an experienced automotive repair technician, I can tell you that the symptoms you are describing are inherent in ALL electrical circuits....they work one minute and not the next. The same also applies to light bulbs in your house.

Voltage at the fuse block of 6 volts indicates you have dirty contacts somewhere and I would say typical for a 17 year old vehicle. First thing I would do is buy a battery post and connector cleaning brush, remove the connectors, smear them with vaseline and reconnect 2 hours later to dissipate power from the anti-theft system. Then check the connections at the end of the battery leads, probably near the fuse box, and main fuse if there is one. Again, clean and smear with vaseline. When you connect the battery, make sure the key is in the ignition. Leave 15 minutes before starting so the systems can reset.

If you don't want the aggravation of worrying about the anti-theft system and resetting it and radio code, you can maintain power to the car systems with a battery charger or a couple of lengths of wire which you keep connected. Just strip off the insulation, wrap and tape the wire on a bit lower on the battery post, and somewhere on the outside of the connector wire.

Every time I open the door nad drive the car, then shut it off the alarm goes off and I can not find a way to shut it off. How do you do it? I also do not have the key fobs.

quickest way i know of here is providing its a factory immobilisor and not a boy racer add on then take the chip out of the key and tape it under the shroud next to the transponder ,This way the car thinks its got the key in and this will stop the alarm

A neutral safety switch could very possibly be the problem. It could also be as simple as the gear shift linkage. Over time, the gear shift will develop some "play" and eventually won't line up with P,R,N,D,1,2 . To test this, hold the gear shift all the way to the left when trying to start the car. If it starts then you've identified the problem and need the linkage adjusted. If not, investigating the neutral safety switch would be a good idea.

My '94 Econoline van's ignition is stuck on ON. I can pull the key out and still drive. The switch is loose and can be moved back and forth without key

hey, i just bought a 88 econoline off a guy who sold it to me because he couldn't shut it off- key turns-does nothing, just like yours.

the next few days it will be my project to figure it out.

one thing i learned is do not disconnect the battery while the ignition is stuck- major electrical damage can occur.

the guy i bought it from did that and i think he fried some fuses.

i will post solution when i figure it out.

also try to find a fuse and pull it out- the fuel pump fuse would be best.

join my thread on this issue at:

and let me know if and how you fixed it.

1988 Oldsmobile Delta 88 (Vin "C") won't start, won't turn over

the 12 amp is for a jump start and the 2 amp is for a trickle charge which doesn't degrade the battery. i believe you have a loose connection either a loose ground cable or the positive cable to the starter check these and tighten if neccessary
