My focus 04 im finding very hard to get into 5th and reverse can anyone help please.

You may have a problem with the shift cable coming lose, have someone move the shifter back and forth and with the hood up look down at the engine next to batterie,You should be able to see the two cables, if the cable is pulling in and out you need a screw to retain nut back on and maybe use a wire tight hold it in place.

Car is in limp in mode unless you have the tools to work on automatic transmission you will need to take it to a transmission shop. Of course you can check oil level but I suspect you have other issues.

Clutch failure. It could be something as simple as the clutch master cylinder being out or low on fluid or something as expensive as the throw-out bearing needing replaced. Start by checking the clutch master cylinder fluid level.

You may have a faulty/shorted reverse light switch. The back-up lights come on when you put the shift lever in reverse. The shift lever linkage contacts this switch. Car is in limp in mode unless you have the tools to work on automatic transmission you will need to take it to a transmission shop. Of course you can check oil level but I suspect you have other issues.

06 ford focus 5spd. no 1st, 3rd, or 5th gear.


It sound like the gear linkage isn,t set up right, you wouldn,t always be able to engage a gear unless you rocked the car.
