Is it a 4 digit code or 5 digit code as you will have between 10000 and 99999 possible codes to input
So get imputing or find the money is the only two options

Whats happends if you take it in to get the starter fixed on it how long does it take? Also when I got it back from the Auto shop My tape radio does not work and says loc does not even turn on. It was...

q1; time to fix, (fix can be 25 things wrong, and each FIX is diffrent times)
a dead starter can be 5min fix to 2 hours.(replaced)
is the battery good, and charged? if not , its not the starter.
if battery is good, then its the start system, it is a system of wires and solenoid and starter. ( does the starter hot wire and work?)
if yes, its not a bad starter. (hot wired at the solenoid)
took me 2hrs to replace a starter, and 1hr second time.
depends on, if bolts are seized, or bad, or wont budge.
if you live in the SALT belt, it can be a real hard job.
q2: dead head, the radio (tape, wow tape, is like old tech) is dead?
tape and A/M and F/M are dead?
well, you apply power to it , and if dead, it is. time for new Radio, etc.
yes there is a fuse.
is your radio programmable. ? sure it is.
when replacing a battery, or starter, one kills the radio program storage. that is norm effect, unless mech has my magic tool that stops that.
few have the magic tool, a cig lighter plug with a 9v battery inside.
also , you lose alarm programming, and any other fancy gear that needs battery to hold programming..
there are only 3 costs.
1: diagnosis.
2: parts
3: labor.
all 3 vary by LOCATION.

I just bought a 2004 chevy impala for my son but the radio is locked. How do i unlock it and will i have to pay a lot of money?

If your car came with an owners manual the instructions should be in there to unlock your radio. However if someone reprogrammed your radio with a code other then the factory code you may need to take your car into the dealer to have it reset. This will run you around $60. I hope this helps you out, and if you have any other questions please feel free to ask.

Hi there!

Your radio will need a code and the only way you might get it is, If you contact the place where you got the car they might have the code still. Good luck

Disconnected battery on my 2004 Saturn Ion to replace the starter and activated the radio theft deterrent feature. Pressed radio button 1 and 2 and the code 2566 appeared. I called my local GM dealer and...

Unfortunatly, unless you have it written down in the owners manual that's where you have to go. I think a personal appearance might help your cause. But GM charges unless you go dirrctly to parts and ask for the manager.

I have to tap the starter in order for car to start

The starter solenoid (an integral sub-assembly of the starter motor) is failing and will get worse. The only fix is to replace your starter motor assembly.

Sometimes the solenoid can be dismantled and overhauled on a DIY basis, but the repair rarely lasts and the attached starter motor is usually almost on its last legs by then anyway. You can save a huge amount of money by getting a remanufactured exchange complete starter unit. You either hand over your old unit when buying the exchange model or pay a refundable deposit against the return of your old one.

I hope that I've been of assistance, please take a moment to rate my reply.

93 civic wont start

My mind goes to battery, starter, or kill switch.
If you can play the radio and the lights are working, but you get nothing when you try to start it (not even a clicking sound), it's not likely the starter, either.
You may have a kill switch engaged. Some Honda cars have a kill switch that disables the engine from starting. (Anti-theft device installed). Check your user Guide to see if there is info there.
Often, there is a button you need to push or some other trigger to release the lockout.
Here is what I would try:
1. Conact the seller, if you can, to inquire.
2. Call AAA. They may know the various options, and did help me when I had trouble.
3. Call a Honda dealer to inquire about options for disabling it.

Good luck.
