How can I repair a sputtering 2.2 Kw 4 stroke petrol generator?

With the choker lever back to the normal position after start up I notice that the wire line linking the carburettor and the long leveller at the other side oscillates. The oscillating line causes the carburettor to decrease and increase the fuel flow causing the change of the engine rotation speed? Can you advise please?

Most times this is caused by to much fuel. You can clean the carburetor (disassemble it). I just buy rebuild kits and rebuild them.

A six cylinder in-line engine has a power impulse every 720 degrees/6 i.e. 120 degrees of crankshaft rotation. The crankshaft has six crank-throws placed at 120 degrees out of phase with one another, which can be arranged only in three planes. Therefore, the crankpin phasing is arranged in pairs. For heavy-duty diesel engines, seven journals and bearings are provided, at each end and between adjacent crankpins. For petrol engines only 4 or 5 main journals are provided. The firing order with the crankshaft arrangement shown in the attached figure is considered. With piston 1 at the top of the compression stroke, its opposite piston 6 is at the top of its exhaust stroke. Rotation of crankshaft through 120 degrees brings pistons 2 and 5 to their TDC and either one of these can be arrangement to complete a compression stroke. If piston 5 is arranged to be at the end of compression and at the start of its power stroke, then piston 2 must be on its exhaust stroke. Rotation of crankshaft through second 120 degrees positions pistons 3 and 4 at the TDC, so either one of these can be on the compression stroke. If piston 3 is made to be on compression, piston 4 must be on its exhaust stroke. A third rotation of 120 degrees brings pistons 1 and 6 back again to TDC, where piston 6 is arranged to be on the compression and piston 1, therefore, be on its exhaust stroke. A fourth 120 degrees rotation brings pistons 2 and 5 to their TDC. Piston 2 is now on its compression and piston 5 on its exhaust stroke. Rotation of crankshaft through fifth 120 degrees brings piston 3 and 4 to TDC. Piston 4 is on compression and piston 3 on its exhaust stroke. Final rotation of 120 degrees completes the 720 degrees displacement of crankshaft and brings the pistons into positions for the next cycle. This cycle provides a firing order of 1, 5, 3, 6, 2, 4. If the phasing of paired crank-throws 3 and 4 and 2 and 5 are interchanged, then a second equally suitable firing-order of 1, 4, 2, 6, 3, 5 is achieved. This arrangement provides excellent dynamic balance and evenness of torque, and is preferred for engines larger than 2.5 liters provided length is not a prime consideration.

Just need to be sure that my 2004 Z71 is in the right position on the lever after using the 4 wheeh drive yester day . the lever is on the floor board of the truck.


Your truck under "normal" driving conditions you want in 2 wheel drive. The indicator on your shifter should either show as 2H or 4x2 or have a picture of the rear wheels only.

which engine, most cars have many engines choices.
if the ECU/PCM sets the CAM sensor (CMP) that can be 2 things
loose cam belt, or loose chain, some have belt some have chain.
if the belt is loose, the cam bounces, and the CMP sees that and gets confused, or the sensor is bad. (or just dirty clean it)
RPM limit can be stuck in limphome mode, or lean fuel
or too rich misfire, i see you mech is not so good, here state side any ASE mech would find it fast. (scan tool PIDS)


so enigne which is it. never post engine question to any one, unless you can state the engine, name and number.
let me give and example.
Petrol

it is near impossible to fix any engine not know which one it is.
and 10x on line. we are blind here, but not your mech.
i looks and goes, ahh, z16XSE or...

but your mech, fire him, find a real one and one that has a scan tool., knows how to read live data and how to check the belt for loose or slipped. or just a dirty cmp.
btw those errors mean the CMP is reading wrong. only why is in question, it is reading wrong. for sure.
the CMP can trip for 1 pulse in 10 bad. its a very sensitive test.
with VTT engines more parts to mess cam locations or jog.
variable valve timing, that.

post back your engine. on our cars the VIN tells this tale.
on non usa cars the fire wall chassis tag has engine type clearly stated. read it.

and a belt (rubber band engine)
cam timng, im not repeating the 38 steps in the manual or torques/
but the crank cog mark is down aligned with the bottom pan mark
the cams are both at 12pm, aligned with markes on back top pan.

install (cut and past just first 8 steps) 2.0L E-tec II only)
  1. align the timing mark on the crankshaft gear with the notch on the bottom of the rear timing belt cover.
  2. Align the timing marks on the camshaft gears, using the intake gear mark for the intake gear and the exhaust gear mark for the exhaust gear.
  3. Install the timing belt.
  4. Turn the hex-key tab in a clockwise direction to tension the belt. Turn until the pointer aligns with the notch.
  5. Install the automatic tensioner bolt and tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  6. Rotate the crankshaft two full turns clockwise using the crankshaft pulley bolt.
  7. Recheck the automatic tensioner pointer.
  8. Install the front timing belt cover.

When i try to start the car the engiene tries to start but its like the petrol is not going through? Therefore the car did not start!!
