Engine has low sound knock or tap after you drive

this could be a collapsed piston skirt. if you pull the plug wire off on the cylinder that is making the noise and the noise goes away that is the cylinder that has the problem. it can also be a lower connecting rod bearing noise.

What is the grinding noise when driving under load?

If noise was not there before replacing drive shaft your new drive shaft is probably out of phase (balance) and needs to be correctly balanced to get rid of said noise it results from excessive vibration while under torque(driving) conditions.

I have a ticking noise from my engine

Ticking noises from an engine, even an SBC, are never normal, Richard. You may be hearing lifter noise (one bad lifter) or excessive valve lash, or both... or you MAY be hearing a small exhaust leak from one manifold. If the pistons you put in aren't a really good match for the cylinders, you may be hearing "skirt slap", which will devolve into a really bad situation later down the line when the piston skirts break off. You may possibly be hearing bearing rap from either rod bearings or main bearings, if they were a little too loose, or timing chain slap if the tensioner isn't working right, or looseness in the distributor drive, or even spark snap between a plug cable and the block or head.

1999 bmw 318i clutch or gearbox? (manual)

I would change the viscosity of the oil in the gear box first as if the oil is too heavy the syncro springs cannot handle a quick shift. next check the drain plug magnet for metal bits Lastly check that the clutch operation is spot on and that the clutch is fully disengaging to allow for the fast shift. May mean that you have to put your foot fully to the floor for your fast shifts and not as you see it in the movies. At this stage with you information if the box shifts well under normal conditions then I would tend to discount a faulty box

Knocking sound when engine is hot

Sounds like car has been overheated and has a collapsed piston skirt. This will cause piston slap until piston heat up and expand.-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The back tires/rotars have too much slack. They aren't tight. Would that be the CV joint or Wheel hub bearings? They make a rubbing noise when I drive fast.

would need a drive to be honest ,never seen one of these carfs here in spain so could the handbrake be overadjusted and this is the rubbing noise you can hear ,is this vehicle front wheel drive or rear wheel drive ?=

A loud noise around the area of the timing belt cover at regular idle. Disappears when driving, then reappears when at idle again.

Dear SIr,
As you saying noise wont come in driving and only comes in idle , it means noise will not come if RPM is high by norma in idle l, try this one start the car don't drive it just raise RPM(rotation per minute of only engine not vehicle speed) in neutral gear , if noise disappear that mean it a problem of drive belt . If drive belt is got less tension then also it can occur or belt is damage, replace belt problem will solve, (for reference drive belt it drive alternator, powersteering pump,A/C compressor that is made by rubber). Thanks if any problem ask me.
