Does the auto cruise function during down hill after setting the speed?

Tambu: Yes, the cruise control should hold you at approximately the same speed you set it at even when you go downhill. Sometimes you will see it pick up a pick too much speed, but then it adjusts.

My cruise control work part time .what is its problem

Most cruise controls I've seen have a minimum speed that they will work. My car has a minimum of 30mph. Under this the cruise control is not functional. Cruise control is cancelled when the brake pedal is touched.

Volvo 850 cruise control won't function

Check vacuum line and cable from the cruise unit. You need a factory scan tool to check it beyond that unless you are real good with a volt meter.

No cruise control

This function is run by a computer which will store a trouble code when there is a malfunction. The first step is to find out what is this code. Take the car to an auto electrician or mechanic to have it read out if unsure how to do this

I have a 2000 dodge grand caravan v6,auto,a/c,cruise dosent work, light saying cruise comes on,but when u push set nothing happens, all brake lights work, horn everything functions right, just no take over by...

It sounds as if a portion of the "clock Spring" within the steering column under the steering whel has failed, not too uncommon. THis device allows the electrical connection to the wheel without a ton of wires twisting around as you turn the wheel. I think a new one is @ $250 however you may be able to find a used one off a low mileage wreck.

I hope this may have assited,

The auto gas pedal stopped working and had it fixed and since then the cruise control will not engage. 2001 Lincoln town car. appreciate any help.

sounds like a switch not working right in the cruise control take it back to the guy who "fixed it" and get him to "fix it" right this time,, its likley to be the brake switch sticking on, this wont let the auto cruise control engage, it keeps thinking you are trying to brake to slow down so it kicks its self out just as it should if you were driving in auto cruise you then need to reset it to go back into auto cruise

Volvo s40 1.8 gdi excessive fuel consumption

You're going to have to figure out what's causing the misfire. The car is almost 10 years old, so change the plugs to start with. If you still have a misfire, go to auto zone and have them pull the codes to find out which cylinder is the issue. Then figure out fuel or spark? Coil or injector? Was there a lean code? Check for a vacuum leak. Change the fuel filter and air filter for maintanence. The cruise control may be another issue.

What is Cruise Control and O/D

Cruise control allows the driver to push a button thereby setting and holding the car's current speed. This allows you to take your foot off the acceleratot pedal and "cruise." Modern "Cruise" systems also have added feature like increasing or decreasing your speed, and coasting so that you can adjust your speed for traffic or road conditions without exiting the cruise function. Touching the brake pedal automatically turns the cruise function off; or you can exit by turning cruise button to "off" at the touch of your thumb or fingertips. Cruise helps on long trips by reducing fatigue, and keeps you from going over the speed limit by setting your speed to the posted limit.

Hope this helps. I will address overdrive in another post. Thanks, TaterTodd
