Your trunk release uses a solenoid to power the release switch...a noise is common when engaging this...is this a new noise, or just noticed?

SOURCE: why do I hear a strange vibrating noise when I press to open the trunk, either with remote or inside button

Most likely the electrically driven opening device is somehow overloaded by something bent or the linkage needs some lubrication. Possibly WD-40 on the locking mechanism moving parts will help.

The remote will not open trunk or doors and can not open the trunk from the inside of car

Remote could have a bad battery. You could have a blown fuse. Does the door unlock switch unlock doors? Can you hear the trunk solenoid when you push the inside unlock button? If not, and no blown fuse, could be a bad trunk solenoid. Could also be a bad remote entry module. Have someone check for computer error codes that might point to trouble - Stores like AutoZone will check your computer for codes for free.

Wireless Key Remote door & trunk opener won't work with trunk anymore

When you press the trunk open button, do you hear any "release" noise come from the trunk area? The issue may be a bad battery in the key fob OR there could be an issue with the transmitter located inside the vehicle. Do the doors lock and unlock properly? is the vehicle equipped with security or immobilizer? please advise

Trunk will not open with the door OR remote buttons. I can it hear it "clicking" but it is not releasing the trunk lid. I do not have a key for the trunk. What could the problem be?

sounds like it could be the latch mechanism is seized(rare but does happen) and you could try forcing the trunk lid open while using the remote button at the same time and it may pop open, other wise the release motor is not working properly(motor making noise but not moving),you should get a trunk key made just for this type of reason(any thing electrical or electronic will fail).otherwise you will have to access to the trunk some how to repair the problem.

Trunk will not release with key remote but i hear click noise from fuse block on passenger side dash i have no manual so i dont know what fuse operates what also never have found any other trunck release...

If the actuator mechanism is functioning (you hear the click) the next step is to see if the cable is connected to the latch. Open your trunk and press the button - watch what happens. You may have to manually 'lock' the trunk with the trunk lid open to observe the action. You can always unlock this latch with your key if necessary.

Let me know what happens ... good luck

Its november 21 and today was cold. I tried to open "normally as i do", but the trunk did not open, with the key or with latch in the front door side. its toyota 2005 ce model. please help.

Maybe frozen moisture, check and see if you can hear the motor clicking when you hit the remote or if you use the manual pull from inside the car, check and see if you can open the trunk. If so it was prob just a freak thing that may happen every so often. If you hear no click with remote check the fuses or may need to replace motor.

My trunk lid will not open on my 2005 nissan sentra. The remote not opening (do hear it click) and the inside button and key not working to open the trunk either

Just beneath the latch ,you can see a clip, turn it up and close the trunk.Try opening it with the button near dash or remote. It should work. They designed it to avoid theft during vallet parking. The main key(steel one) is used only for ignition. There is another key(with a black rubber head) is for ignition and trunk. So if you want to avoid missing any items from trunk using vallet parking, use the main key,put the clip down and hand that to the person who is assisting you during vallet parking.

Trunk lock wont open

if you do hear the click noise then that means your trunk is now unlocked. Try giving it as much force as you can while someone else is hitting the trunk release, your hinges for your trunk are probably hung up on something.

Trunk wont open on my 2001 vw tdi jetta

You can open it old school. Insert the key in the trunk lock in the VW emblem and turn it while pushing down on the trunk lid with the other hand a little bit. It should open. The plastic arm that the motor is pushing to unlock may be broken. I have the same problem. You can see it if you unscrew the fabric from the trunk lid and press the button on the remote. There are about a dozen fuzzy head screws (nicely masked btw.) that hold it. I am still looking for the proper name of the part so I can order it for my car.
