Question about 2006 Mercury Milan
Your trunk release uses a solenoid to power the release switch...a noise is common when engaging this...is this a new noise, or just noticed?

Most likely the electrically driven opening device is somehow overloaded by something bent or the linkage needs some lubrication. Possibly WD-40 on the locking mechanism moving parts will help.
