1997 dodage grand caravan sport, when shifting from park to drive it makes a ticking noise, do you know what this could be? the car shifts fine and runs fine 126,000 miles.

The electronic shift solenoids in those transmissions make a ticking noise when shifting, same as when you slow down and stop, you will hear it as well, if it's quiet and your window is down. My guess is what your hearing is normal but if worried, stop at any reputable mechanic shop, or dealer and they will confirm it, free of charge.

Engine noise

First let me say that at 7000 miles no noise is completely normal, make sure the dealer noted the problem so if it becomes a defect your covered, second, with it being so new, anything you might do on your own could void your warrenty!!! That being said, i would start with only using a high octane fuel, as low grade fuels are known to cause valve ping, this is probably what your hearing, if after a few tanks of high octane it still continues, take it back to the dealer, if they give you the same story, go to another dodge dealer, ALL dodge dealers will look at it, and if you tell them the people you bought it from are ignoring your problem they will be more than happy to get your business and tell you the truth, good luck!

It is likely pistons that are a little loose. It won't hurt anything, it is normal GM thing when they get some miles on them.

Engine ticking

Did you buy as is no waranty? It could be the egr valve, but i would take it back where you bought it and have them make it right. If there any kind of a dealer they should stand behind what they sell.

Ticking noise in engine

It sounds like the lifters are still sticking. Change your oil/filter then after 500 miles change it again. Since motor oil has a mild detergents, a couple of changes should hopefully remove any buildup from around the lifters. Do not use "motor flush". Even though your engine is fairly new, it may remove too much buildup and flush it onto your crankshaft bearings. You may try some marvel mystery oil also and I've heard seafoam does a good job, if you can find it. Mine started ticking after using one of the super thick oil additives. I'm still trying to flush that stuff out.
