There is a switch between the brake and the transmission. I forget what its called but unless you have your brake pedal pressed your car will not shift out of park. If you do have your brake pedal pressed there may be something wrong with the sensor.

First of all get your tranmission fluid and filter changed not flushed, second of all their is a wire underneath that plugs into the tranny that is held on by a bolt clip, if this wires rubs through and grounds out which it usually does it will take out your over drive and the light will flash, your top speed will be 45 MPH.

try turning the key on but not as far as it takes to turn on the dash lights, shift to neutral, then start the car,Check the brake lights,if they dont work, replace the brake switch at the pedal, that switch allows for you to shift out of park when running

DIsconnext and reconnect the linkage at the transmission. You may want top replace the linkage cable all together. Make sure you set the parking break and block the tires
