Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

So then i thought the battery on my key was about dead so I started to use the key instead of the button which has been fine for months but tonight I went to unlock it with the key and the alarm went off! This has happened before and I can usually press the unlock button and that stops the alarm but tonight the button wouldn't stop it so every time I unlocked the car with the key the alarm goes off? It'll lock with the button fine but not unlock although when pressed the red light on the key flashes! Can someone please offer any suggestions as my car is now abandoned at work!

If mine, I would get a new key fob from dealer or possibly a locksmith. I think the key and or the security reciever need to be reprogrammed.

SOURCE: Hi, My cars central locking

Replace Fuse 27 in main fuse box located under the hood black box in far right corner. Then try reseting your battery. Make sure to follow these steps as follow. Unhook the - then + of the battery. Clean both the negative and postive of the battery. Next go under the hood far right and replace Fuse 27 which is 15 type fuse green in color. Wait 20 minutes for reset of the computer then attach the + and - cables back to the battery.

The alarm is running your battery down. Have you tried unhooking the ground wire from the battery for a few minutes to see if it will allow the electrical system to reset itself? Sometimes cars need a re-boot just like a computer.

You have a dead battery.
The procedure to fix it is as follows:
1) Charge battery.
2) check alternator belt tension. If loose, tighten or replace.
3) If still no start, replace battery.

Try locking and unlocking the drivers door using the key. Usually that will re-set the security system. Also try the rear hatch lock as sometimes that is used instead of driver door.

My starter on my 2002 Suzuki XL 7 died today in my garage. At first I thought it was my battery...battery is fine. I was told it sounds like my starter since there is not juice or sound when I turn the key...

The first thing is to make sure the battery terminals and connectors are clean and free of corrosion so the starter can getr enough power to operate. To find your starter follow the large red wire that goes to the bottom side area of the engine. It will be held on by two bolts.

Electrical Short???

Has the stereo been changed recently? If not move to the cigerett lighter. These two are most likely the prob. But you could have a bare wire anywhere grounding out. Good luck and hope you find it.

Dead battery making a clicking sound

take the battery out of the veh and see if it will charge overnight on a charger, if not then the bat just ran its course I doubt it is 11 years old. Bats last anywhere from 3 to 5 years then they die if it does charge then your alternator needs to be replaced as it charges the battery when you drive, low voltage may cause the buzzing, tellin gyou there is a problem.

2000 Dakota battery problems

It's 100% possible bud. I've actually had a battery blow out on me at 3 days old. I was just driving to the store and I shut the car off. I went and got some stuff and came back to a 100% dead car. It had a new altenator and the battery was all but three days old. It was so dead that even the overhead light wouldn't come on. I got a jump start from a friend and made it to napa. They tested the battery and said it reads perfect until you try to draw energy from it.

They told me it was a shorting cell, and that the battery was shot. It was replaced for free; as should yours if you still have the warranty information.
