What is year--make--model? Are you saying you jumped the starter solenoid to get it to start? At the starter usually two circuits for cranking, one is battery voltage, hot all the time. The other circuit goes hot with key in the crank position and is wired through either the neutral or clutch switch depending on the tranny.

My jeep have a problem starting.

Sounds like the solenoid that pushes the starter gear to the engine... ? Does sound like a starter provided you've checked the battery and all cables are good, corrosion free on the posts and connections tight. Tapping on it with the wrench probably un-siezed it for that start...? Just a guess.

Starting Problems

Try the earth and main active leads to the starter motor. Or If you are shorting the solenoid and it starts, there will be a problem with either the active wire from the ignition switch or a poor earth. Check what voltage you are getting to the solenoid from the ignition switch when someone turns the switch on.

Will not start with key will start when you turn key on bridge out selenoid

check why there is no power or circuit in the wire from the ignition switch to the solenoid. There should be 12 volts in the wire when the ignition switch is in the start position

Mitsubishi Fuso Starter problems, starting has gotten worse and worse. Now will not turn over at all. checked wires already

Yes, bridge the starter solenoid post to the starter battery cable post. Use a small jumper wire or just a small screwdriver. Have the key off, vehicle in neutral-bridging the terminals will cause a good starter to start cranking the engine.

Started truck turned heat on and truck quit wont start back.

I suppose something could have happened to the key switch.
The headlights would be on a different circuit not controlled by the key switch.
Do you have warning lights on the dash in the on position ?
Do you have battery voltage on the positive side of the coil ?

94 explorer no crank but starts when bridged at relay. changed bat. starter, relay, ignition coil/ switch/ and ignition, terminals, ground cable, fuse, black relayZ?????

Check for power on the red with light blue wire at the ignition switch with the key in the crank position. If there is no power make sure there is power on the yellow wire at the ignition switch. Also check to make sure the key is making the full turn to the crank position. If there is power than check for power on the Pink wire at the neutral safety switch on the side of the automatic transmission. If there is not power I need to know if you have the anti-theft system or not. If there is power than check for power out of the neutral safety switch on the red with light blue wire. If there is power on that wire pull the starter relay and check to see if two pins are grounded all the time. One of the other two pins that are not grounded should have power all the time. The other pin should have power when the key is in the crank position. That should get you started. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

2001 beetle battery hot turn key all the light come on but starter doesnt engage

try bridging the wires on the starter motor with a start button.
that or replace the ifnition switch.
if you bridge and the starter doesnt turn over its a bad starter
if it does its a bar ignition switch.
lmk if this helped
