A common problem is a bad ground wire somewhere. You can remove the ground wire and clean the metal where it was attached.

You should also check the flasher unit and fuses. In some cases, the turn signal unit on the steering column is bad because of corrosion or internal wear.

When you move the turn signal on and off = do the lights go on and off? if this is the case, replace the "flasher" under the dash. check for burn out bulbs. etc

low voltage can keep the flasher unit from blinking. These lamp sockets are bad about becomming corroded, but the fuse holders are the worst for making bad connections to the fuse. Sometimes just wiggling the fuse fixes the problem temporarily. Clean the contacts and bend slightly to make a tighter fit.

Dont know what amp to put where in my 1967 vw bug fuse box

According to the information that I have been able to find, they were all 8A fuses originally. It's never been that way in any of the VW's that I have ever owned, but here is a page from the original 1967 VW owner's manual. It shows fuse position, but only recommends that the driver carry spare 8A fuses. There is no mention of any other fuses.

I got a 1974 vw bug the turn signal do not want to work at all what can i do?

All grounds need to be double checked for cleanliness and contact at each of the light assemblies. There is also a turn signal relay located just behind the speedometer unit. This is most likely but if you need a wiring diagram, let me know.

Repair rear '67 Beetle suspension

1967 VW beetles had a type of trailing arm suspension, which gave some amount of independence between the two sides. The axle tube, with brake plate and bearings, coming from the transaxle, attached to the trailing arm suspension. The only part that normally had to be replaced in the rear suspension were the shock absorbers. In 1967 they were NOT Macpherson struts, so they are just bolted on and easy to change.

Put the Key in the ignition and turn the key. It should disengage the steering lock and you should be able to pull it out. Make sure you unplug the switch from the back.
