This is a common issue with the o2j/o2m transmissions. due to miss shifts or loose linkage.

the easiest fix for this is to shift from reverse to 2nd over and over. then try to force it into first gear. it will be very difficult sometimes to do but it will go. once you get it in first it will be very hard to move, but you will just have to keep shifting from first to second over and over and it will begin to loosen up. make sure you are doing this with the engine off.

the second way to do this if the first fails is to have the shift linkage adjusted.

SOURCE: Gear shifter does not smoothly shift into first gear

It might. If not, adjust the fork.

My gear is stiff and experiencing a difficulty when engaging second gear. other gears seems to be fine but the shifting is not smooth.

I suspect that it will be in the shift mechanism
If it is a cable shift then replace the cable
If it levers or other linkages check and adjust or lubricate as required
I doubt it is in the clutch as you haven't mentioned difficulty in selecting first gear only shifting from 1 to 2nd.

Transmission does not shift into gear at times even though rpms go up. if i shift to neutral and back to drive real quick , transmission shifts into drive gear ok.

its the velve block inside the gearbox its sticking it needs a strip down and new seals fitted,,,thats pricy too,,,,there is an oil that you could try out first,,its called "smooth shift" or "auto box shift" its just tiped into the gearbox

Your lockup torque converter is bad I believe. When you shift from Park into any gear it will die.
