That number is I believe off the timing cover SBC, If you look at the back of the engine where the trans bolts to the block there should be a casting number on top, Get me that number and will be able to tell you what you have there. Hope this helps, Good Luck Randy.

What motor is in it?

You can goto this web site and it will help you.

http://service.gm.com/dealerworld/vincards/

Yes Chevy and GM are the same. You can also look for a sticker on the front of the truck next to the radator area and under the hood. Now if you think that the motor was changed you'll have to look at the ser. number on the motor block itsself. it is on the back of the block on the top of it. You can get it and call AutoZone with it and they can tell you the size or call a Chevy or GM dealer. You can also call the parts dept at the dealer and give them the VIN number and they can tell you what size it is. This cost nothing to do.....

I want to know if its a chevy motor

it is very very likely that a chevy with have a chevy motor. the easiest way to tell is by looking at your motor then google picture of the same truck if that is the same motor then its stock and an original chevy. you can also check the exhaust mainifolds every maker is unique. and the actual block casting will tell you everything that you need to know. my thought is if u have 6 exhaust ports than you have a 2.8. or if you have 4 i think its a 2.5

I need to determine if my 1953 Chevy half ton pickup has a 216 or a 235 engine. The engine serial # is EEA 422930, or can you tell the difference by looking at them? Thanks

Serial numbers tell me how many leters and when it was made but anyone can overhaul the motor and change specs your going to have to take it to a garage and have it check to be sure but it should be 216
