SOURCE: how do you put in transmission fluid?
This is the one year Honda/Izuzu did not put a fill tube in the engine compartment for the automatic transmission. They thought it would prevent contamination of the fluids. The fill plug is on the top front of the transmission. It requires a small pump to lift the fluid up and into the hole.
WARNING: Do not remove the plug until you complete the following.
To add fluid the vehicle must be completley level, and it helps to have it elevated so you can get under it. The best method is a hoist/lift in a dealership, but I was able to use some heavy jack stands.
The engine must be running and the fluids warm and the gearshift in drive. Be sure to set all of the brakes and use caution.

There is a metal fitting bolt close to the bottom of the transmission. You can unscrew that out and if transmission fluid comes out it's good. If this doesn't occur you'll have to get a pump and pump transmission fluid in it. This is the easiest with a lift of course. Don't you hate stupid Japanese ideas. Good luck man

If you have an automatic transmission, you should take it to a mechanic or at least purchase the special fluid temperature gauge needed to do it right. You add fluid through the overfill screw opening found on the transmission fluid pan (there is no dipstick or underhood component on the 96' and later models). It should be located in one corner of the pan; there's also a drain plug is more toward the middle. Never open the overfill screw with the engine stopped - it should always be running and warm.
For a manual transmission, the fill plug is also on the pan, but it is located on the side.
SOURCE: what to check transmission fluid for myself. where is the dip sti
Check your manual, but you may not have one. Quite a few newer cars no longer have dipsticks for the trans fluid.

There is NO DIPSTICK in the engine compartment. On the side of the transmission, there are two plugs. You remove both plugs and fill one side with fluid, (not sure which side), until the fluid comes out the other drain plug hole. One is lower than the other. Open the lower plug hole. If fluid begins to come out, then it's full. I would suggest to leave it alone unless you suspect a real problem Do you see trans fluid on your driveway ? etc: Reports indicate, do not leave trans fluid change too long for this vehicle. Check you hand book for proper interval.
