SOURCE: i have a 2005 navigator the shifter is stuck in

Its a sensor under the brake. You can actually pull the shifter with a little force and it will go into gear. It will cost about $400 at a good garage. Looking at $600 and more at dealer. When you force it into gear, you are not hurting the transmission, just over riding the sensor. Your "D" will not light up on the dash or at the shifter untiol you fix it.

SOURCE: 1999 Lincoln Town Car shifter stuck in park

Look at the swith on the brake pedal, it shoud have two green wires on it. Make sure it is not melted or the wire is broken. If it is damaged you can connect the 2 wires together to get it into gear, but this should be temporary as it bypasses the neutral safety switch.

SOURCE: shifter is stuck in park

Billettechnologies.com sells a replacement cog to put your shifter backinto action. Their part replaces a factory plastic piece...no wonderthese are failing at a fast rate.
Here is the LINK to make this change out of parts...

Where is the interlock switch to get my 2005 ford freestyle out of park it's stuck

hey! Jasmine first check that the fuse for the brake lights is not blown there's a safety thing that will not let you shift out of park if the fuse is blown /// next if O.K. you must check the brake light switch on the frame where the pedal is under the dash if lights are working then the interlock switch is on the steering column here's the connector that you'll look for

but is the shift lever very loose if it is try to push it forward and all the way to the left and it should start was somebody yanking on the shifter trying to get it out of park without there foot on the brake they could have broken the shift tube so the transmission is not all the way in park and the neutral safety switch is stopping you from starting because now it's not in the right position

Key stuck in the ignitin of a 2005 grand prix

Check to be sure your shift lever is all the way in the Park position. Move it up and down several times to be sure. If that doesn't work shift into neutral then move steering wheel side-to-side to be sure it isn't locked under tension. Place shifter back into Park position. If that doesn't work check all your fuses. There is a small safety switch located under the shifter boot. It is there to prevent the car from starting when not in Park. A blown fuse can cause it to stop working. If all else fails, remove boot and manually press this switch. If key comes out then that's your problem. Good luck.

WHAT CAUSES LOUD GRINDING SOUND WHEN TRYING TO CRANK MY 1990 FORD F150 WHEN IN PARK?

Check and make sure the bell housing on the transmission isn't broke and trying to separate from the engine. Shifter shouldn't move while cranking unless transmission itself is moving.

The car starts, but the gearshift wont move from park

Usually a problem with the brake switch or the solenoid that locks the shifter in park.
That circuit would need to be tested.

The most commonly diagnosed component is the shifter and/or shifter solenoid on your Impala.
GM issued a bulletin on this problem. Contact your dealer, they are aware of the problem and you could be covered under warranty. Below is a copy of the bulletin.

Ford 1997 Exediton got stuck in park 2 times, shaking shifter, it moved back into drive. How or what do i need to do

Possibly...shifters can feel like they are stuck in park when a vehicle is parked on a hill/slope and the parking brake was not applied. All the weight of the vehicle rests on the transmission, which makes it difficault to shift out of park.

The automatic will not come out of park. Must

If this is actually the gearshift not wanting to move from park the problem is either in the brakelamp circuit or the solenoid that locks the shifter in place. All cars now have to have the brake pedal depressed before you can move the shifter from park. There is a lock solenoid at the shifter that is operate by the brake lamp switch which is more than likely the problem.
