On the 2.0 l engines, oil burning is common, and quick easy solution I've found is to run "5 minute oil flush" available at any parts store. follow the directions and 8-10 times the carbon between the piston rings and sludge that build up in the valvetrain (a common problem for all OHC Dodge engines) goes away. be sure to use a high quality filter and a high mileage formula 10w30 motor oil like Valvoline or Pennzoil.

Just to warn you if you live in a state (like PA) that has inspections, if you go to a parts store to get your codes erased, the codes still show in the computer and you wont pass inspection. You have to take it to the dealer and spend $$$ to have it erased from the cpu. This is for 96 and newer volvos. This is why I stick to rwd redblock bricks

My 95 neon smokes alot at stop an go when hot :rings ? valve guide or egr?dose not burn that much oil.
ii suggest to look on the valve guide's valve seal.
the smoke (white smoke) from tail end means eating up so much oil.
rings,if you mean piston rings, it's internal and affect the entire performance of the engine.
egr valve - it's only re-directing exhaust gas to the cylinder and be burn again.

I need to know at how many miles my timing belt would have gone on a 1995 plymouth neon
Would have gone??? That doesn't sound good.
Chrysler says to inspect it at 60,000 miles and replace it at 90,000 if it was not replaced at 60.000.

My neon cranks over but wont fire how do i no if its the timing belt
take the oil fill cap off ,and see if you can see the cam turning while cranking engine ,,,if you cant see it ,try holding your hand close to the opening but not directly on it and crank engine ...should feel air passing by if belt is not broken.

Replace the sending unit in the tank. As far as safety inspection goes, I'm certified in PA & that doesn't fail in PA. If you in PA & they fail it for that, they're committing a crime.

95 neon with oil leak at the crank shaft. 64,000 miles on the engine. is it worth repairing and how much can i expect to spend to repair? replaced the timing belt and water pump within the past year
yes its worth fixing.

a good mechanic will charge you between 3.5 and 3.9 hours labor to do the job properly plus parts.
