I have a 4"x6" pilar candle never worked right.Put in new batteries each week. "Old" ones covered with flakes of battery acid. Cleaned contacts with vinegar -no help. Any ideas? Thanks

to clean acid leaks you use baking soda or sodium bi-carbonate in water solution then clean of with fresh water
vinegar is an acid and acid will not neutralize acid so it will come back when dry
as for the rest it is possible that the soldered joints for the wires are affected and may have to be resoldered or the copper in the wires has also corroded away.

Install new car battery

Always remove the negative terminal first, then remove the positive terminal, undo the fixing clamp and lift the battery out. Keep the battery upright and away from your cloths, it contains dilute sulphuric acid. Fitting the new battery, clamp in place, connect the positive terminal first and the negative last, make sure both terminals are tight. Job done, might need to recode the radio, if it's a coded type. Take the old battery down the tip, don't just put it in the waste.

I have a 2003 ford focus wagon second hand. My battery died out and I thought the alternator was the problem. Brought my car to an alternator repair shop and they said the alternator is still good. I ended...

Lead acid batteries don't like being discharged flat, and it could now be damaged and unable to hold a charge. It does sound as though the voltage regulator part of the alternator is allowing discharge to ground when it should not. You would seem to have a good warranty claim on the battery given they did check the alternator and pronounce it OK.

I have a 2000 chrysler cirrus and for some reason my battery keeps dying. Its a new battery and i got a new alternor 2 weeks ago. It seem the battery dies after not driving it for a couple of days.

Did you see them putting a brand new battery? the problem as you describe it looks like the battery has a loss of water which prevent it to get charged as you drive. Check the battery's voltage (it has to be 12 or up ) and tell a technician to check the Acid of the battery . One more thing: is the battery a 65 Ampere one? that's the one the cirrus needs to work.

I have to weekly clean green corrosion from positive battery post on my Dodge pick-up. It statred even when the battery was new with new clamp bolts and cable/clamps scrubbed without any green residue...

The copper cable is corroded. Replace the battery cable before it fails internally where you can't see it. It will turn brittle and maybe eat through the insulation and short-out.

Car won't start even after new battery purchase

Alternator problem, the alternator charges the battery when car is running, so it has probably died now. Was working at reduced capacity for a while, which is why you were only getting a partial charge for some time. Now you have an open circuit completely as alternator has failed completely, time for a visit to an auto electrician. PS replacing acid in battery with distilled water is not a good idea. It probably was time for a new battery anyway.
