If it is a auto the fluid is transmission fluid leaking from the oil cooler at the radiator or loose hose so transmission is low on oil thats why it wont drive .have a closer look at where the oil is leaking that will help but filling it up with oil is only a very short term fix .You need a mechanic to check it out if its not a loose plug or cracked hose.

you might need a tranny flush but it could be a major internal problem with the trans.

SOURCE: gas gauge sometimes works 1995 dodge b2500 van

It is a reasonable assumption that the sensor in the tank is bad.The gauge in those are replaceable, try the dealer but first price them online, JC Whitney and LMC Truck and so on. I would try the tank first, it isn't the favorite job, but my bet is there.

SOURCE: Ford taurus 1995 will not move when started

i have a 2001 ford taurus and it did the same thing a while back, call the dealer and ask them for the sensor that is behind the brake pedal. It is not the transmission .. cost less that 25 bucks to fix and takes about 20 min

SOURCE: 1998 Windstar Transmission doesn't shift into gear

common problem for ford. and in these vans. Same thing to the 98 I had. I am a mechanic and couldn't figure it out. Thought pin fell out but linkage moved. Brought in to tranny shop and they ended up getting used on for $800

I suspect my 1995 windstar may have a bad modulator valve the fluid level seems to go away with no apparent leak and now it takes off in 2nd gear and won't shift to 3rd or od and the od light on t

I've been doing research on these vans. Seems I remember that if the OD light flashes >>> fluid level is low. Also, I read where Ford wants you to overfill fluid so as to allow you to go around corners without loss of lubracation. By this time you may have melted it down and bought a Honda. I have a 95 Teal color and just in flawless shape, however it won;t go in reverse. Just follow the hood ornament and don;t look back...right ! ?

My Ford windstar 2003 would not start today. I turns over but wont start. I thought it was no gas so i put 2 gallons in it. It still wont start... please help

Okay. i have seen alot of fords that wont start but ran good and got parked and then wont start, the problems i have found is first the fuelpump goes bad,try this, have someone try to start the truck and at the same beat the bottom of the fuel tank with a rubber hammer, this shakes the pump and sometimes makes a bad pump start back up, if you get van going with the method then pump is bad and needs replacing. the other thing i have seen alot is that fords have a fuel shutdown switch, this shuts the fuelpump off when van is in a crash or i have seen this just by the van getting tapped in a parking lot, so check the switch, you will need to look in the manual to locate it and you will use your finger on the top to push the button in and you will feel it click a little and then try to start the van, here are a few locations they put the switch.i jsut remembered on this van the switch is in the rightside in the luggage compartment, open the rear tailgate and look to the right on the side you will see a decal that say fuel switch, thats the switch. hope this helps. good day

Power steering fluid leak back side engine in the middle of van

I just repaired a leak in my 1995 Windstar power steering system. The leak was toward the back of the engine but more toward the right (passenger side) of the car. There's not much clearance so I had to jack the front end up just to be able to look underneath. In my case the rubber hose had come off the metal tubing portion of the high pressure hose near the right wheel.

Fortunately, it had a screw type hose clamp, and barely enough working room, that allowed me to reinstall and tighten without having to remove the hose assembly. Yours sounds like there may be a break in the metal tubing, in which case the hose assembly would probably need to be replaced. Hopefully not.

Another thing that may come into play is whether the leak is on the high pressure side or the low pressure side. It seems that the high pressure hose assembly is long and winds in and around the engine. Probably a real dog to replace. Bottom line is you need to locate the leak and that will determine which hose it is and whether you need to replace or not.

I realize that this question is a few months old and has probably been corrected by now but, for others who may experience similar difficulties, have confidence, power steering systems aren't all that complicated and, usually, are not too difficult to repair. Hope this helps. - David

The van will start up and the motor runs but it will not shift into any gear?

First thing you need to do is start the motor and let it warm up to normal operating temperature and then remove the dipstick from the transmission and check the fluid level in the transmission(leave the engine running). If you don't see anything on the dipstick put in transmission fluid for Ford transmission until it reaches the full line. Now if the van moves the you will want to check for and repair any leaks that you have in the transmission, line or transmission oil cooler in front of the rad.

2000 ford windstar problem with gas mileage

Start the car with the hood open. Check the engine compartment as well as the fuel line from the fuel tank to the engine compartment. If there is a leak you will find it. Remember gasoline will evaporate quickly when there is air movement so watch carefully to make sure you don't look over the leak.

it either blew the trans or more likely there is not fluid left in it. look for a huge leak such as a cooler line or front seal leak. that whine is bad,its the hydro pump in the trans burning up, dont slip the trans! itll take about 30 seconds of that and its fried

2001 Ford Windstar transmission fluid leak

Sorry!,..More than likely the front seal of the transmission has actually cut a groove into the torque convertor neck.I have seen these hundreds of times, when the van is hot the seal wont hold the fluid pressure behind it and trans fluid will leak past...also the lines/hoses are on the side of this transmission..the vent is located on top of this trans near the main connector,.not in the front(Ax4n).,, seriously go to an accredited trans shop only for this repairATRA......again sorry for the bad new..Bob Stinson

ABS and brake on 2001 Ford Windstar come on randomly

Do you mean the van is actually braking like a Starsky and Hutch move or that the warning lights indicate that they are on? If its lights then you may be low on brake fluid. Maybe a module leak
