It shouldn't as ride control only effects the the comfort of the ride and not its safety... but believe me any warning light will trigger a possible failure. Most inspectors really only have rudimentary knowledge of how certain models work and will fail you upon inspection. Probably a bad shock...get it fixed

Those models had air ride on the back and adustable struts on the front. Usually the ride control light is on because of faulty sensors in the struts which are expensive to replace. You could run a scan on the system to find out for sure.
If the car sways on turns, you may have a problem with one of the stablizer bars or links.
I would take it to a shop that does suspension work and get an estimate or two.

You can go to a parts store like Advance Auto Parts and borrow a code reader. You can plug it into your port (typically under the drivers side dash) and it will give you the code for the light which you can also reset the warning.

Sounds like your air ride is malfunctioning could be a defect in bag,line, or sensor or possibly more the ecm should fire out a code if you have a code reader

The fuse is called RTD 30 amp under the hoodfuse box. That is for the Air Compressor.

On second thought I understand you meant the indicator said actually "service ride". This can apply to shocks, the air pump that levels the car, possible low tire and such. Again, a mechanic can read the exact problem with a diagnostic computer. Just keep on driving until you get tired of seeing the warning. Oh yes, the mechanic can reset the car computer and make the annoying warning go away.
