it says, first brake fluid level.
my guess is engine was stalled, or was idling at 300 rpm and you fail to noice that?
after all the charge lamp only comes on stall (or near) or bad ALT.
i think it's a warning light telling you that a bulb has burnt out. have someone look at the lights, both front and back, while you operate all of the exterior lights
brake master cylinder low? if so top up, or your abs module might be stuffed, need mroe info but im going with brake master cylinder needing top up of dot 3 brake fluid.
This warning light should indicate that there is a rear light failure. Running lights, brake lights, signal lights, reverse lights. You should check all the bulbs to see if any are burnt out.
hello this is a common problem with the dakota ,ohm out your rear abs sensor on the rear end pumpkin.If it is open then both lights will come on .the sensor is not expensive at all or hard to.
the trans will not allow overdrive until coolant reaches roughly 180 degrees, if the guage shows cool and the trans is not upshifting, or downshifts to third while driving. the problem is either a sticking (or missing) thermostat. follow the lower radiator hose to the engine and find the three 12mm nuts, remove these to get to it. a new toyota t-stat will have a little bleed valve on its face. position it upwards when installing. hope this is helpful.

Brake light warning indicates possible low brake fluid in the reservoir;
Charge warning light indicates battery not charging which can be caused by defective alternator/regulator, slipping belt, corroded fusible link from alternator to battery B+ terminal.
