Read some more. There are some sensors which do not make contact with water. Be sure that examples are not of 4.6L engine or a California equipped engine.

I have a 2001 Lincoln Ls 3.9 V8 motor and I'm trying to locate the temperature sensor. But i am having trouble to locate that part. Can someone help

This engine does not have nor use a engine coolant temp sensor. It uses a cylinder head temp sensor. It is mounted under the intake which has to be removed to gain access to the sensor. It is on the drivers side head next to the intake ports

2000 linclon ls with no codes sputters upon accleration

mass air flow sensor or the throttle body needs to be cleaned .first take the intake hose of the throttle body and spray the inside the the throttle body with throttle body spray. there is a pin hole under the flap or the butterfly that lets a little air in make sure that is allso cleaned out. let it sit and see if that fixes it. if not (MAS )sensor would be my next guess.
