I know that the previous gen quest had the fuel inertia RESET switch on the driver side kick panel...
fuel is cutting off via the ECM for your generation though
"If the engine speed is above 1,800 rpm with no load (for example, in neutral and engine speed over 1,800 rpm) fuel will be cut off after some time. The exact time when the fuel is cut off varies based on engine speed. Fuel cut will operate until the engine speed reaches 1,500 rpm, then fuel cut is cancelled."

do you have trouble codes ?
Now I feel like I need a mechanic. Having the car just sit there and not start is frustrating. Everyone I talk to is telling me its one things or the other. I first thought it was the engine because it was low on oil and that could have caused its own problems within its self. Now the gas is not going through the pump. Which I thought maybe the fuel cutoff switch was hit and cause the gas to stop working. So much to do

I had the same problem recently, but gave me 2 codes knock sensor (which will not activate the service light as i found around)
and gave me the air flow mass sensor. took it out clean it,
change the air filter, with a good one, vacum the inside of the filter holder and light went of about 2 days later.

I have the same issue with my 2004 maxima. The service techs said it was the timing chain tensioners .Since they are hydaulic and they powered by the oil in the car .It is recommended to purge the the engine every time the noise starts to come back. I brought some an it really freaking work because I started to run it into a tree and go buy a toyota

there is a c-clip you need a small screwdriver to pull it out then gearshift knob will pull off

it usually does but you have also an intermediate shaft that connects steering column to steering rack, I know those at times can cause the exact noise you describe although what you replaced usually does.
