Rear brake piston on 2011 Ford Flex SEL. I have done brakes in the past, and never on A Flex. Not for years actually. Seemed ok until I went to compress the piston with a c-clamp. It won't budge. So I came on here looking, and one of the responses said I need a disc brake piston tool. And that the piston is to be rotated. I am worried though, as the response I am referring to said 2006 Kia Spectra.

Thanks Robert. I just went and purchased the only piston tool they had. It is mulitsided so I am hoping it works. I just wanted to make sure that this is what is needed so I don't waste time trying to turn the piston if that is not how it is done on the Ford Flex.

Yes, you need to turn the piston to get it back into the caliper, Harbor Freight has this tool and it's not very expensive and works great. Disc Brake Pad and Caliper Service Tool Kit 18 Pc

You need a tool to turn the piston to get it to go back into the caliper. if you don`t have the proper tool you can use a pair of adjustable pliers to turn the piston back but be careful to not damage the piston rubber boot.

My brakes are spongy after brakes job and bleeding. The calipers looked ok except for one but i didn't replace them. And the ABS light is on still. It takes a couple pumps to get the braked to work....

This week no one even puts down a vehicle or any info
of what was done & by whom Please do that

Spongy is a system not bleed correctly & it has to be
flushed every 2 years on all vehicles

If the car is 10 years old you need to clean out the moisture
from the master cyl piston, replace flex hoses & calipers

Rear rotor replacement for a 1985 mercadies benz 500 sel

YOU NEED TO SAFELY RAISE SUPPORT REAR OF VECHICLE ON JACKSTANDS. MAKE SURE VECHICLE PARKED ON SOLID LEVEL GROUND. YOU NEED TO SIPHON JUST A LITTLE BRAKE FLUID OUT OF THE MASTERCYLINDER.BECAUSE YOU NEED TO USE LARGE C - CLAMP TO COMPRESS FORCE PISTONS BACK IN THE CALIPER BORES USING LARGE C - CLAMP DOING THIS WILL ALLOW YOU ENOUGH ROOM INSTALL NEW REAR BRAKE PADS.TO REMOVE REAR PADS ONCE YOU COMPRESS PISTON BACK IN THE CYLINDER BORE. YOU CAN TO REMOVE REAR BRAKE PADS BY REMOVING RETAINING PINS IF EQUIPPED OR BRAKE PADS HELD IN PLACE BY RETAINING BOLTS.ONCE YOU HAVE NEW REAR BRAKE PADS INSTALLED.PLACE MASTERCYLINDER COVER BACK ON TOP OF MASTERCYLINDER THEN PUMP BRAKE PEDAL TO SEAT NEW REAR BRAKE PADS AGAINST THE ROTOR UNTIL BRAKE PEDAL FEEL FIRM AND SOLID.THEN RECHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IN BRAKE MASTERCYLINDER ADD LITTLE MORE FLUID IF NEED DONT OVER FILL MASTERCYLINDER.

I replaced the rear pads and rotors and the drivers side is sticking

Did you remove ALL Rust from pad sliding abutments?
Put anti-seize on All sliding surfaces,e.g. ends of pads,

Ratchet up parking brake assy?
Flush brake fluid?

Is park brake releasing?

If you don't flush fluid every two years,
you may have a corrode and stuck

My rear flex line broke on my 2002 mazda protege. How do you repalce the rear flex line?? Also I am doing my brakes on the rear. Do you have to turn a screw at the back to pull back the piston or do you...

changing the flexable hydraulic pipe is self explanatory ,,their is a special tool to rewind the pistons on all rear disk brakes but i use a G clamp ,an assistant is better still then one keeps a steady pressure on the piston with a G clamp and the other winds the piston clockwise with a pair of water pump pliers ,their narrow ? watch the dust seals as they get more or less in .job done not difficult but the special tool is better as it compresses as it winds .and not expensive

Which way do you turn the piston clockwise or counter clockwise to retract the piston in when installing new brake pads on a 2006 Ford freestyle?

Clockwise-on the rear
I would open the bleeder valve first, push piston in,then screw parking brake in.
You need to flush your brakes every couple years, anyway.
After you install new pads, ratchet brake up by hand.

hi from the uk have had this problem on a customers car b4 who had replaced frot calipers and pads and pedal went to floor on inspection of caliper i found that the steel spring clip that fits into two holes in the front face of caliper and must also locate behind the caliper carrierbehind two lugs was fitted incorrectly it had been fitted behind the outer pad resulting in when brake pedal off ?the caliper being floating type as it is known because it is fixed by two screw pins/bolts and moves on these pins/bolts as pads wear ? what happens is the spring fitted wrongly ? actually pushes against the outer pad and as a result the caliper piston is pushed back into its cylinder slightly as it moves on the locating pins/bolts resulting in pedal going to floor on 1st application but if pumped ? some brake pedal force is felt but is lost again when pedal released ? so try this ? remove the steel clips from both front calipers that retain caliper to carriers then press brake/pump pedal ? if as suggested above works? your pedal should pump up and remain ok when you release and still be firm when re applied ? all above is what i found on ford ford but many other models use similar calipers and spring locating recheck how this spring should locate hope this helps ? good luck

How do you press the brake caliper piston back on 2008

First, take a look at the piston, if it's flat or cup shaped, put an old pad at the piston and use channel locks to squeeze it back in, opening the tool wide to get it to catch the back of the caliper.
If....the piston has what looks like an "X" or cut outs, this is for a tool that spins the piston in with a special tool. (Subaru's and some other cars use this)
After you are all done and pump up the brakes, re-check the brake fluid level.
