SOURCE: no brake/hazard lights,have running/turn signal lights

Suggest you change hazard flasher 'can' first, then go to the hazard switch. I'm betting it's the flasher can.

SOURCE: bottom brake lights and hazard lights do not come on. All other lights work including top brake lights. Fuses and bulbs checked.

Check for power out of brake light switch by brake pedal. Of its faulty , the 3rd brake light will still work. Hope this helps

I assume the fuse has power if the hazards work.
The third brake light skips the turn signal switch, the regular brake light circuit goes thru the turn signal switch.
Do you have power going into the turn signal switch on the red lite green wire from the brake switch ?

Rear brakelights and turn signals do not work

The turn signal and brake lights are controlled by the turn signal switch.
You did not mention parking lights so I will assume they work.

Could be a faulty turn signal switch or a wiring problem between the dash and the rear of the van.
Do the hazard flashers work on all four corners ?

Left front turn signal does not flash. Left rear OK. socket was corroded so I replaced socket. No flash. Checked wires for voltage, only the parking light connection ever gets anything. Front and rear...

Try pushing the Hazard switch on the Column several times and see if it restores the connection. From what I understand about the Multifunction Turn switch is that some of the contacts share connections with the Hazard Button.

The contacts work on a type of derailer setup and when the contacts get dirty or wear, things stop working. Moving the Hazard switch resets the points and springs each time you go in and out of the Hazard setting.

If your brake light is working you know the wires to the light socket from the brake switch are okay. Probably would not hurt to check brake light switch as it shares the common wire. The split between the left turn and right turn signal wire has to occur, yet the opposite brake light will stay on steady while the other side blinks.

Brake lights dont work

Check the brake light switch, it is down on the brake pedal lever, you can dis-connect the wire connector at the brake light switch and check for broken wires at the connector, and then jumper the connector with a paper clip, if the brake lights come on then replace your brake light switch.

There might be more than one switch attached to the brake light pedal lever, the brake light switch usually only has two wires going to it when there are two switches.

If there is no problem with the brake light switch then you can suspect the turn-signal switch to be at fault, as all of the running lights, turn-signals, brake lights, and hazard lights are all ran through the turn-signal switch. You can also try stepping on the brake pedal and wiggle around the turn-signal switch and see if the brake lights flicker or come on.

1996 Chev Silverado K3500 dually, no brake lights

Check at the light socket in the rear, where your lights don't work. You need a test light or a voltage meter, and check to see that you have a groun there, power for your parking light, and power to the brake light. You should have power for the parking lights seeing that it works, and a ground. Just verify that your power for the brakes is getting to the bulb, or not. Just a good place to start.
And you are correct that if the third brake light works (top) your brake light switch is fine.

Brake lights don't work on 1988 Ford Thunderbird

Check the brake light switch located under the dash, connected at the junction where the master cylinder rod connects to the brake pedal. Remove the connector and with a short piece of wire, paper clip works fine, insert into the two terminals on the connector. Check to see if your brake lights are on. If they are, your switch is bad.

'98 caravan signal, brake and hazard lights work.

Start by checking the fuses. The parking & headlamps work off the same switch. The back-up lamps are on a different switch, which is activated at the transmission.
