As noted in one answer, the control switch in the dash could be shorted or corroded and not sending current to the valve at the front tank. Also, might want to check fuse diagrams to see if there is a fuse for the tank switch-over circuit.

1996 ford f150 with two tanks. Truck has been running fine and normal til today. Wouldn't start, but when I switched tank from front to rear it started fine and ran fine.Any ideas? Thanks

You may have run out of gas in the front tank, but the gauge may have been reading the rear tank or the front sender is stuck. Is the fuel line switched electrically or manually controlled? How are the gauge connections switched?

F150 dual fuel tank problem

I have to say i'm only guessing, but it sounds like the valve that switches the flow of gas from one tank to the other must be sticking part way open, or bypassing or something, and anything your engine doesn't require, is being returned to the front tank, instead of the rear.

When I switch from my front fuel tank to my rear tank gas stops

There is no selector valve on a 1995 ford f150 300 engine. The selector switch on the dash sends power to the pump in the selected tank. The pump then sends fuel to the engine. If engine won't run on the selected switch, the pump in that tank needs replaced.
